5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should have this book!
I don't know how this book hasn't been in my life earlier, but I am so grateful it is now. You can read the whole thing or just flip through it. I enjoy discussing issues with my friends and looking through "The Food Bible" to help them get through their issues. The first part is explanation of nutrition and the second half is all broken up into sections of food to cure...

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk
I was bored today and while at the bookstore on lunch I skimmed through this book. Needless to say while reading this I found some glaring problems. Claiming to avoid sugar to stop acne from happened. Umm yea it's been proven that no matter what you eat that doesn't have an effect on acne.

Also the fact that she bought her degree should right there tell...

I don't know how this book hasn't been in my life earlier, but I am so grateful it is now. You can read the whole thing or just flip through it. I enjoy discussing issues with my friends and looking through "The Food Bible" to help them get through their issues. The first part is explanation of nutrition and the second half is all broken up into sections of food to cure what ails you. You can look up Hangovers to Anxiety and it will tell you what you should avoid eating and what you should be eating with some recipes as well. I love Gillian and am so grateful for her passion to improve our lifestyles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of it's kind ..., April 1, 2009

This review is from: Gillian McKeith's Food Bible: How to Use Food to Cure What Ails You (Paperback)
For me, Gillian McKeith's take on what eating the right foods, the right combinations of foods can do to improve every aspect of your health is better than other books of it's kind that I have found before. I've been to her web site, done her profile questionaire, received her, specific to me advise and have done the detox eating plan she laid out for me. In 2 weeks time I felt 10 years younger. It is now 8 weeks later and with little effort other than combining the right foods I am 25 pounds lighter, I have all the energy one could need and now I feel 25 years younger. When you are more than half a century old, that is saying something.

5.0 out of 5 stars Praying for good health? Gillian McKeith's Food Bible helps too!, April 9, 2009
This review is from: Gillian McKeith's Food Bible: How to Use Food to Cure What Ails You (Paperback)
Each of us has health concerns, although some might not be willing to admit it. In my family, the concern is diabetes . . . it can be traced all the way back to my great, great grandfather. My grandpa, my dad, his two brothers and my sister were unlucky enough to be afflicted by this disease, a disease which frequently damages each and every one of our major organs. My grandpa often had just ice cream or pancakes for dinner, and died at only 55 of a heart attack. Perhaps a better diet could have extended his life.

Gillian McKeith has presented a comprehensive, factual, and useful manual on food, food which helps determine whether we acquire diseases and conditions such as diabetes and obesity. I am sure each and every one of you has a disease to which you may be genetically predisposed, and if you're wise you'll try to do something about it before it is too late. You will find each of the four sections of this book to be quite helpful in your quest for prevention and cures simply through careful selection of the foods you eat. Whatever your concern, from acne to Alzheimer's, or breast cancer to bronchitis, you'll find tools to help. Buy this book for you and anyone you care about. Eating right is our most controllable factor to achieve good health.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, some holes, March 13, 2010

This review is from: Gillian McKeith's Food Bible: How to Use Food to Cure What Ails You (Paperback)
Pros:
-Excellent book if you're looking to rebuild your diet and how you think about food. I bought it several weeks ago, have changed my entire diet, and feel great.
-Gillian makes some great points as to why vegetables should be at the base of the pyramid, and actually rebuilds the entire pyramid.
-The "How to Cure What Ails You" section is backed by sound logic, look forward to eating some great food.

Cons:
-Stages of life section can be more developed. As a 22 yr old male, the only section that applied to me was how to increase my sperm count and become more fertile. At this point of my life, I'm looking for foods that will help me to be at my best in school and sports and am fine in those other areas..
-Many foods are repeated throughout the book. Either they really are miracle foods or Gillian needs to expand her food knowledge.

Bottom Line:
For your money, Food Bible is a great investment. If its not at your local library yet, buy it. If it is at your library, buy it anyway as you will probably like to reference it throughout your lifetime.

Love this book! I would recommend it to anyone who is sick of wasting money on expensive perscriptions. I know that sometimes it is necessary to take persciptions drugs, but a lot of illnessess could be avoided if we'd just eat correctly.

My step-daughter recently asked me to recommend "a book" on nutrition etc. I could not provide her with "one book" that I thought would help, until that is, I got my copy of Gillian McKeith's FOOD BIBLE. Easy to read and understand this book really is something every home should have.
