Glad I got this one,

It took me a long time to pick between this and a couple other nozzles. Tons of great reviews on some of those newer style ones with lots of spray options, but they've got some bad reviews too.I'm young, but I'm oldschool. I like my things to work and last for a long time. For a nozzle, you cannot beat this. I wanted nothing to do with the plastic ones, even rubberized plastic. This thing is brass and SOLID and will probably last me the rest of my life. I paired it with a Gilmour hose as well and I'm very happy. As for the spray modes, it's just like all the other twist nozzles. Probably would not recommend this one for gardening, but I'm not a gardener. I use it to wash my bike, my car, my house, my driveway and various other things. I've got great water pressure here and this thing makes incredible use of it - very strong stream. NOTE: this is not the cheap twist nozzle you may be used to. When I was younger, both my dad and grandpa had some twist nozzles on their hoses that were not so good. Difficult to turn and sometimes leaked. They were smaller too. This thing has some serious girth and does not leak. Twists very easily too. If you're debating between the cool new plastic ones and this and you don't need a billion spray options, I highly recommend you get this one.

Solid construction, does not drip, and very adjustable. What more could you want? I bought a second one for the back yard.

You just can't do better than this good ol' fashioned brass twist nozzle. I've purchased and used the pistol grip and other types of water nozzles and they have all quickly failed in some way or the other. I will not try any other type - it was what I grew up with as a kid - my dad and my grandfather had and used this type of nozzle and to my knowledge the only reason they replaced them was because we kids managed to lose them somehow. Yeah, you have to go through a few more motions to use it, but it shuts off when you shut it off, it holds the spray pattern you set on it, and it is just about as durable as you can get. Plus, it works well with just about any water pressure, Buy it, use it, and have it forever. It just keeps on keeping on.

Gilmour's Solid Brass Twist Nozzle is sturdy, easy to use, meets our needs from jet to mist. It's a time-honored, reliable work-saver.Strong needle jet held at surface level blasts leaves and debris (easier than raking if you don't over-water). Makes light work of shooting packed dirt from boot sole treads, dirty crevices, etc. Twist the nozzle, get medium spray for regular watering. Turn all the way for gentle mist. Be sure your connecting hose end is undamaged, or you'll be spraying yourself, as I did!

Solid Brass, multiple seals, turns easy, no leaks, great spray - just exactly what I expected!Usual great Amazon service of course! Fast, and no damage! I like this nozzle because you can set it to any type of spray, and it stays where you set it! Don't have to hold it a certain way, and it just palin works. This is one case where the old way works best in my view. I've had the fancy ones, least 8-10 of em, and they break, or leak, or get hard to use (well water) but brass just works, and this one is quality made - lifetime return too!

Regarding the Gilmour brass garden hose nozzle models 528 and 528T528 (rubber jacketed verison of the 528T): I bought this Gilmour nozzle first and...It Broke!!! well, LEAKS is a better choice of words...where the shaft of the inner core mates with the base of the nozzle that screws onto the hose. They are two separate parts that appear to be press-fit togetther! And it leaks alot...not just drip, 2 seconds, drip..it has become a small trickle. Worse, the core and the outer twist part now spin at the faulty juncture effectively preventing the adjustability of the spray. To try and make this clearer, I can no longer grasp the long outer jacket and twist to adjust the spray, because it spins at the faulty juncture. Haven't even had it 4 months. 528T: I bought this nozzle based soley on the positive reviews. Upon inspection of this nozzle when it arrived, it became immediately clear that the same 'press-fit' manufacturing technique was used in the assembly of the 528T as in the rubber jacketed 528. Without even screwing this nozzle onto my hose, the two Gilmour nozzles I now own (this nozle the 528T and the rubber jacketed version model 528) that utilize the same press-fit design and manufacturing techniques have a 50% failure rate at best. The Gilmour products that utilize this 'press fit' manufacturing technique have, in my experience, an unacceptable failure rate, and are not the perfect hose nozzles we thought they might be...but this one might be: Dramm 12380 Heavy-Duty Brass Adjustable Hose Nozzle Warranty Gilmour covers this product, (and presumably the 528), with a 'Lifetime Replacement Policy' stating they will replace the product free of charge. They do not provide a telephone number on the packaging but rather an address, and a P.O. box number at that. It's just my guess, (take issue with that if you want to , I really don't care), that they will not accept the product without an RMA. If you write them, obtain an RMA, send the product (at owners expense?), I have no doubt they will send you another one, 'free of charge'. But who wants it? Especially in light of the fact that there are better products out there that cost no more; Dramm 12380 Heavy-Duty Brass Adjustable Hose Nozzle.

This is the very best hose nozzle on the market. I have tried everything else and there is no comparison. Good old fashoned heavy brass with two O-rings and a silicon hose washer that does NOT LEAK.You can not go wrong with this.

This product deserves a 5 star rating because it does not leak and it works! Effective simplicity. Most nozzles leak. They get your hands and clothing wet.

The nozzle should last a lifetime, but no doubt will need the O rings replaced a every so often to keep it from leaking.

Gilmore 528T Brass Nozzle, Don't Waste Your Money,

I've had my new nozzle for a few weeks now. It replaced a similar style brass nozzle that I had for years. Last night the new nozzle broke. Just as another reviewer pointed out the base of the nozzle pressed in with a small ridge holding it in place. On my old model it appears to be one solid piece.I'm not going to try to go through the trouble of sending it to the company. I'm going to try using that wonderful epoxy stuff that starts with J.B. and see if I can get a few more days of use from this nozzle while the new one that is similar, costs more, looks exactly like my old model, and is made in the U.S. comes in. |
