This is perhaps one of the most unique sprinklers you'll ever own. It is completely adjustable, you can adjust the amount of rotation, spray pattern and the distance. However, the unique part is that you can adjust distance at 30 deg intervals. This allows you to create patterns that match odd shaped areas. For example, you have a tree in the middle of the area, you can adjust for full distance until it reaches the tree, then adjust for very short distance and finally back to long distance. I have 4, 2 new ones and 2 old ones. However, one of the old ones finally broke after about 10 years, not bad for the use/abuse it has been given.

We bought this sprinkler about 3 years ago. Since that time we have been trying to find more to purchase. We have tried several different pulsating sprinklers and pattern sprinklers but this is by far the better of the ones we have tried. Our three year old sprinkler is still going strong while the other pattern adjustable sprinklers give out after only four our five uses. I highly recommend this.

The gilmour sprinkler is one of the best lawn care products out there.
I have had one for ten years and when my dog broke that one, I was in need of another one. The problem was that i could not find one in houston. I found one on the internet and bought two of them.
This sprinkler can water in all kinds of ways; long or short,360 degrees, and you can set it to where it will not hit your fence line, house , or your car.
It is a powerful and fantastic sprinkler. I have told my friends about it, and they all come back and say how wonderful it is.

I bought one of the first models 7 or 8 years ago (color was yellow back then). Within a few weeks, I was so sold on this wonderful little product that I bought two more, one of which was defective from the getgo while the 2nd one broke apart after the first couple of uses. I returned the two broken ones and bought two new sledbase models. By summer's end, two of the three I now had in hand had broken/come apart, leaving me again with one working model. I returned the two broken ones, but the store shelves were bare at season's end, so I had to wait until the following spring to buy two more sledbase models so that once again, I'd have a total of 3. After that second summer, only one remained intact and operational. I bought 7 total in order to get 3 for my yard and wound up with only one working unit (which has worked faithfully since then). Despite this desultory one-out-of-7 success rate (four broken/defective, 3 paid for, one has lasted), I've been keeping an eye out for them in the usual hardware stores, hoping that Gilmour had come up with a sturdier design. Haven't seen them for a long time, thought I'd check the web and am ordering ONE sledbase model for now. It's a nifty sprinkler. I wonder why it's not "out there" a lot more; people I've shown it to have never seen anything like it before. If durability is, in fact, still a problem, then maybe it presents a problem for marketing it far and wide.

This sprinkler is great for adjusting to square yards or odd shaped yards. The big problem is it Pools alot around the base of the sprinkler, soaking that area heavily.

If you have a lawn or garden with odd shapes or even rigid shapes, this sprinkler is wonderful. With the ability to adjust the distance of the water sprayed in a near or 360 degree area you can water the whole area without moving or changing sprinklers. It is a time saver as well as water saver. You can also avoid unwanted watering of sidewalks,decks, etc.

This is the best sprinkler we have ever bought. A friend introduced me to them and we have since purchased 3 of them. It really helps keep the water sprinkling in places you don't want it to. I would recommend it highly!

We have a very strange shaped lawn...lots of beds, curves, paths, etc. This is a very useful sprinkler. You can raise and lower the pitch of the water flow (as it rotates between 30 and 360 degrees). Package says it is great for large areas, which I am sure it is. However, for smaller yards that are not plain squares and rectangles...this is a hit for the price.

The 996 is an excellent sprinler for those odd shaped areas of your lawn. It is amazingly adjustable and allows you to set the pattern so that you aren't watering the street or deck. Because of this you save water by watering the grass and plants and not the asphalt. The ability to string multiple sprinklers together is another plus. I don't think there is another sprinkler with the adjustability of the 996 on the market. ....
