Best Sprayer you'll ever buy!,
By David Fairclough (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gilmour Innovative Back Saver Sprayer 3 Gallon GP3 Teal/White (Lawn & Patio)
My search has ended. After buying and using perhaps 5 -6 different sprayers over 20 years or so this one meets all the requirements. The secret to its ease of use is the high handle/pump arrangement. This allows a full 3 gallons to be toted about and pumped -all without a back ache penalty. It also requires less pumping per shoot than most other makes that I have used. You will not go wrong with this sprayer and it may well be the last one you will have to buy.

So-So, won't last long,

I purchase these sprayers every so often for washing my car in my condo's garage (no hose access). I've been through a few now, so I've seen some different models. The Gilmour Innovative Back Saver GP3 is at best decent. The volume is excellent and the idea of the elongated handle is well intended. However, I fear the handle/pump will be broken soon. Just pressurizing the bottle leads to twisting and bending of the handle when you near max pressure. The first time I pressurized it, the hose flew off at the bottle attachment. I've screwed it back on more securely and it seems to be staying put now. Certainly not confidence inspiring and it flew off with such force that someone could get hurt if they were standing in line with it. While Gilmour gave the back saving extra height on the handle, the hose to the wand is painfully short. Even my little 2 gallon sprayer has a hose nearly 50% longer. Finally, the wand. Sigh. It's a flimsy plastic piece of junk. Does it spray? Yes. Will it last long or is it ergonomically 'nice' to use? Not at all. For twenty some bucks, I'll use this until it craps out, which I assume won't be long. But then I'm probably not buying a Gilmour again. The RoundUp sprayers are much better products.

The sprayer works well. It's probably bigger than I needed. Maybe should have gone with the 2 gallon, but I have no complaints. If I were using additives, the measuring device on the side would be great. The carrying handle is useful, though I'm not quite sure why they call this a back-pack sprayer. There is no strap (though I could devise one fairly easily if I had a desire).
On the silly side, I bought this compression sprayer on a whim. My wife and I park our cars outside, and I hate scraping frost off the windows in winter. I've used really warm water to melt ice before, so I was pondering what would happen if I could just walk out and continuously spray really warm water of our windshields. Well, it works (if the water is hot enough, the temperature is cold enough to instantly evaporate the water, or you follow up quickly with a squeegee). If the water isn't warm enough, you'll refreeze a film over the window. Overall, it works. Despite cautions from others, the windshield has never cracked or stressed from the warm water. Maybe it would be otherwise if there was a chip or crack, but this saves me quite a bit of time in the morning.
