We use a drinking water hose to fill up our fresh water tank on our boat. It's also safer for the kids to drink out of. It offers a clean taste without the usual "garden hose" taste and offers no chemical leaching. I used to be able to pick up very sturdy drinking/garden hoses from our local hardware stores, but they are no longer available. I can't even find any online anymore. They were much more rugged than this hose. They were light green in color and very sturdy. Our new hose doubles as the garden hose and when a lot of pressure is put on it, such as when using a lawn sprinkler, a hand held sprayer or when it's hooked up to our power washer, it bulges quite a bit. I don't know how long it will last. It feels flimsy and kinks easily even though it states that it doesn't. It's not a bad hose, I just don't think it will last that long. I wish they would make a stronger drinking hose available instead of these little wimpy ones.

Hooray, finally I have found and have verified by these comments, that my search that has gone on for months has ended for a hose that is safe to drink from. My bird baths, outside dog bowls, plus watering my vegetable garden won't be poisoned by a chemical hose. What insanity is it to sell poisoned hoses, and that a person has to hunt down a safe hose from which to use around our homes, on our lawns that our children play on, pets, us? How dangerous that so many people don't know that the hoses sold in stores are not safe to use for humans and animals to drink from.

My mom feeds and waters birds and feral cats in the backyard. She has been looking for a hose that is safe to drink from in stores for months to replace the old one that is falling apart.

She let me know about her failed search. I found this one on-line and purchased for her. She's quite happy with the hose. Said that it attached to the house nicely and has no leaks (the old one did). No complaints about it (except that one should be able to purchase one in the stores).

I had trouble finding a drinking water hose that was long enough for my needs at the right price. This one fit the bill. I have been quite happy with it.

Finally I have found a hose that I can drink from without tasting like a chemical barrel. In my day every hose was made to drink from, but with the hoses sold today being made in China, I wouldn't take a chance drinking from them especially when they don't state that they are suitable to drink from. These are made for marina's and campers etc where the hose is actually used to supply drinking water. Besides being able to drink from this hose I feel better watering my garden with it also as I'm not worrying what type of petrochemicals I am feeding my vegetables. It doesn't hurt that this hose has a great warranty.

The hose looked good but it has failed in about 3 months of gentle, daily use around our boat. Its construction is far too light and it kinks easily. The last few ft. of hose (from the inside of the coil, near the male end ) were badly kinked and crushed when it arrived. It has now developed a bulge with a pinpoint leak right near the outlet fitting. Should have spent the small additional amount and gotten the better "never kink" drinking-water hose from West Marine. This Gilmour is, unfortunately, junk.

I wanted to buy a lead free hose for the garden and pool, this one is manufactured as 'drinkable', and it does its job.
