I'm using this to power my Sirius Radio, Garmin GPS and I use the USB for charging my mp3 player or BlueTooth headset. The unit works well and seems to be of pretty good quality. But, the sockets are might not be deep enough for a good solid connection on all devices. While it works well for my Sirius plug, my Garmin GPS plug is longer and the metal sides don't have enough "wall" for a solid connection. So sometimes if I hit a big bump in the road that adapter will pop out of the socket.

Also, the adapter only works in one position in my Ford Fusion as the cigarette lighter is in a tight position inside the ashtray.

All-in-all it works well though.

Worked as described and I appreciate having the USB interface also! This item's been in permanent use in my car since it arrived:
- GPS in first socket,
- Vehicle video camera in second socket; and
- iPhone frequently plugged in the USB interface (using its own cable).

Tried buying a separate iPhone charger but it was rubbish and is not being used; don't waste your money and buy this instead!

Some reviewers commented on accessory plugs slipping out; I haven't had that problem but mostly drive on good city roads with minimal vibration.

Good product and I'm happy with it.

I bought this device since it was the only lighter power to USB power adapter at the store I went to. It works fine for that purpose as far as I can tell, but the device came with no instructions.

Q: What is the function of the two small black sliders on the shaft of the plug? A: The sliders adjust the tension on the paddles that contact the sleeve (- terminal) of the lighter socket.

Q: The device is fused, but how is the fuse replaced? A: Screw off the tip of the plug, and the fuse is inside.

The only remaining question is what is the function of the sharp knife blade-like lever on the shaft of the plug that is secured with the split ring?




Weird extra gizmotry with no instructions.

I needed to extend an inverter from the ashtray and this product did the trick. The top outlet wasn't usable because the dash was in the way but it made it possible to use the inverter. It does take up a lot of room and I have not found a good place to store it. But all in all it got the job done.

The build quality of the Gilsson Universal 3-way Car Cigarette Lighter Socket Splitter is very poor.

The two cigarette sockets on it are a bit too large, and they really do not hold on at all, so unless you can get gravity to work for you, power will cut in and out on bumpy roads.

The part that inserts into your car lighter has a small piece of metal that keeps coming unattached. It ended up inside my cigarette lighter and I fried the fuse when I tried to fish it out.

I am probably going to return this piece of junk. Do not buy it!

I only gave this two stars because I cannot access the upper socket as my lighter socket is too sunken into my dashboard.

The socket in my Honda Civic is recessed far enough in the dash that the up-facing socket on this product is not usable. I managed to get it to work upside down, but this did not provide easy access to anything plugged into that socket.

It is also a very long unit, and anything plugged in facing front blocks access to the emergency brake in the Honda Civic. The unit does have arms that move from side to side, but the positioning proved tricky when I tried to use my ipod dock or gps, both of which have longer plugs.

I also found that some plugs fit so snugly that the silver casing inside the up-facing socket slid out of place when I tried to remove them.

Overall, this product came in working condition, but was incompatible with my particular vehicle.

I read the reviews about this item and thought... It can't be that bad. It was, broke in 2 weeks. Buy something else!
Returned to Amazon for refund

Plugged it in and it worked fine. Went to the gas station and when I restarted the car it never worked again. I figure I payed a dollar a minute for the use I got out of it. Too much trouble to return to Amazon so will gleefully smash it with a hammer.

Bought this for my wife so that she could operate and charge her Garmin GPS and iPhone at the same time. The splitter easily fits into the lighter socket on her 2010 PT Cruiser without any wobble or loose connection.

The live traffic version of the Garmin power adapter easily and snugly fits the side facing socket, pointing towards the passenger side. There does not seem to be any problems with loose connections due to normal city street driving.

She is currently using a lighter socket power adapter with attached cable for her iPhone and it works fine as well using the other lighter socket on the splitter.
