I am a black licorice lover. Over the years, I have eaten licorice products from around the world. My sister sent me Black Licorice Scottie Dogs as a gift, and I fell in love with them. I next found them in The Fresh Market, where they are sold by the pound, at a price that caused me to buy them only on a periodic basis. Then I did some research and found that Gimbal's makes them and that I could by them through Amazon.com. I ordered a box, which is a supply that can last a very long time. My friends and neighbors discovered them in the small candy dish my wife keeps on the large island in our kitchen. I had to order 2 more boxes to fill all the requests to have a bag of the great little treats.

A box contains two (2) 5 lbs. bags. The bag is plastic and sealed tightly, so the licorice remains fresh for a long time. When you compare the price of a 10 lbs. box versus what specialty food stores charge per pound, the box is by far the better deal.

According to experts:

"Licorice is in fact a powerful antiviral that contains 10 antioxidants, at least 25 fungicidal and 9 expectorant compounds. Licorice also includes MAO inhibitors, several XO inhibitors, and natural estrogenic ingredients. But this is not all that helps to form licorice. Licorice is also made up of beneficial components such as phytochemicals, magnesium, and sodium."

I have know for several years this is the best licorice there is, dut last week I discovered this AWESOME deal. 10 pounds for less than 30 bucks. I was paying more for only 5 pounds! All I can say is this is a fantastic deal! Delicious, fantastic, wonderful, Don't miss out.

This licorice came in 2 5 pound bags and well packed. The candy was fresh and the price the best i have seen on these scottie dogs. Made my 85 y/o father very happy to get this as a gift. He says it reminds him of his younger days.

If you like licorice you will love these 'dogs'. Not soft and not hard, these Scottish Dogs are just right if you like chewy candy.

Love these Scotties!!! The product was shipped timely and came when they were supposed to arrive, safe and sound. Thank you. I will order them again. I cannot find them locally.

I originally purchased item at a out of town grocer, but could not find locally.
I found my Licorice Scottie Dogs at Amazon and the price was right plus there was
no postage.
You cannot do better than that.

The licorice had a very nice flavor. I wish it was a little harder because I eat it too fast!

These candies fall far short of their glowing Amazon reviews. They contain licorice but taste mostly of corn syrup and anise (the "natural flavor" in the ingredients list, presumably) and they stick to my teeth like no other candy. My nephew, who likes Panda licorice and Haribo licorice wheels, and who will eat candy until told to stop, hasn't touched these since his first disappointed taste. I would not buy this product again.

The name "Gimbals" speaks for itself. They are the "original" licorice Scottie Dogs and they are the "best". I have a Scottie Dog, for real and the image is exactly the silhouette of my Dog. I had no idea he posed for it......silly me. These are the best in every way !!!!!

I love black licorice so was very excited to find these as I'm always searching for the best tasting.. these are very chewy but they taste exactly like black jellybeans EUGH! I always toss those.
I prefer Australian black licorice though so if you lean more toward that taste - STAY AWAY FROM THESE!
