This band is a Kick!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Gimme My Money Back (Audio CD)
The Treme Brass Band is a real Kick. This CD of traditional jazz is a joy to listen to. I saw them live at Donna's on Rampart Street in New Orleans. It may be hard to believe, but as great as this CD is, they are even better live.

Great New Orleans brass band music. These guys used to play in a little joint called Sydney's on St. Bernard years ago. This recording brought back the dancing, laughter, and the aroma of turkey necks cooking in the kitchen while the whole joint simmered and eventually overboiled out into the street as a young Kermit Ruffins led the band and the patrons out the door and blew right there on the corner while the crowd danced in the street. That's real New Orleans and that's what this record is all about. Recorded in a record store in the Quarter, the crowd is all part of the Easy City ambience. Listed with the band personell are "three unidentified Japanese tourists" on trombone, banjo and piano. Just listen to Kermit blow so sweet. I can close my eyes and I'm back at Sydney's sucking on a turkey neck and laughing at the antics of my buddy Shorty dancing with three women at once. Yeah you right!
