Book Description

"This book is more than a read, it is
an experience...

Gimpy's Secret is a well-written read that employs an artful use of simplicity. The concept is deep but does not rely on verbosity or heavy language to weave a delightfully light tale that packs the heavy impact of a powerful message.  ...will change lives by provoking us directly but delicately on a philosophical journey."- Laurette Lynn, author, speaker, home education advocate, founder/host of Unplugged Mom Radio.

Based on 30+ years of a vast
and vigorous scientific exploration into human co-existence, Gimpy's
Secret
is the entry level introduction to the concepts and discoveries
of that research.

Finally and for the first time,  a
blueprint, for getting along with one another;  not only in our
closest relationships but in all our encounters in this dramatically changing,
completely confused and disordered social environment.

The highly educated with preconceived ideas may
have to re-think what they think they know about the subject
matter.

Loved, and quickly grasped, by children yet simple
enough for adults, Gimpy's Secret is not just "kid's" stuff!
It is the underpinning upon which the solutions for the future will be
built.

I received an email about this little book. I was almost ready to delete Gimpy, that is until I read the first 20 pages on the website. All that did was wet my appetite for the rest of it. So, I ordered 25 books. I received the books the next week. I was driving from Albuquerque to El Paso on I-25. I tried not to read it while driving, but, alas, my knees grabbed the steering wheel, and I grabbed the book. By San Antonio, NM, I finished......a better person. I have already sent 2 copies to my pastor, and sent a copy to a school superintendent I know, and I encourage all to read this book, and read it to those in your family who cannot read. Get this book and give to everyone you care about. You could not choose a better birthday gift. It contains a life restoring message. So, hurry.......and don't drive with your knees!! We had a wonderful Christmas and hope you did too in all that beautiful snow. The book arrived. Thank you. George and I have read it and now Sasha and Tom are reading it too. Yes, it should be read by all children. I think the author should also submit it for a Newbery Award. The author has our permission to use our full names, city and state. We love the book! 5.0 out of 5 stars Instant classic for all ages! September 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a wonderful book. Period.

Upon finishing it, I felt like I had read a dynamic mixture of Charlotte's Web and A Prayer for Owen Meany: A Novel mixed with The Wizard of Oz.

The story centers around a young girl on her grandparents farm searching for meaning and inner peace when she stumbles upon a cryptic mnemonic - A Loving Touch Profits Every Creature At Some Center Point (A.L.T.P.E.C.A.S.C.P.) - that holds the promise of everything she's searching for.

The problem is that the only one able to break the code for her and unlock the secret she seeks, is the most implausible ally one might imagine - a lame chicken who can talk but barely walk.

In the tradition of the aforementioned classics, this book weaves together everyday morality plays into a cohesive story arc that will linger with you well after you close its pages.

This is a wonderful book. Period.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Professional Assesment of Gimpy's Secret January 24, 2012
Format:Spiral-bound
This is a powerful book! Like what made E. P. Dutton & Co one of the most successful children's book publisher of their time.

While having a wonderfully captivating story line, we learn something new about the age-old subject of Love. We are helped by a talking chicken during a child's summer vacation from school visiting the grandparents farm. It's an excellent read for parent and child together.

Education is not my field of expertise, but it looks like a very professionally choreographed lesson plan story telling by a gifted teacher, and vivid artwork characterizations inside and out. After reading the book I took the on-line test which greatly reinforced the learning process.

Technically the book is a faithful refinement of the concepts advanced by Charles E. Hansen in his recently published "The Technology of Love", an accumulation of research over a 35 year span. What is unique about his research into a very complex phenomenon, Love is now defined as "10 Positive Vectors", universal actionable human expressions. A concept called "vectors" is applied to show a benefactor and the receiver (direction) of Love, along with an associated measured amount of emotion (intensity).

Gympy's Secret translates Hansen's research of Love into usable form for us as: (1) a unique four step process, and (2) an application of these "vectors" in a form like a recipe of 10 ("secret") ingredients.

The process we learn, Love starts with Respect, then Knowledge, followed by Responsibility, and finally the act of giving Care. In the wider world this process looks very familiar as the "OODA Loop" (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act), a popular decision-making/problem solving, skills, and training concept used in business and many other fields ( Goggle to learn more). Most important, the forth step, is the Act of Care where these "10 vectors" are applied like a recipe. In general the steps can repeated and revised until the outcome (intent) is optimized.

The "secret" itself, (and you must read the book to learn it), is cleverly encrypted by the author into a mnemonic for us to remember the 10 "vector" ingredients necessary to express Love. To kids they are like a "magic wand"; to us grown ups, they are "tools" to help us be more effective in touching other peoples' lives (and in return ours) for the better. One analogy in the book, "it's as simple as baking a cake" to please a loved one by picking just the right combination of ingredients, in the right amounts.

In conclusion the lesson for all of us is that we are now empowered with new knowledge about how to improve our skill in applying the ageless phenomenon of Love, so we can better the lives for ourselves, our family, the community, and even our work.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Important and Delightful Experience. December 16, 2012
By Elle L
Format:Spiral-bound|Amazon Verified Purchase
Gimpy's secret is more than a read, it is an experience, and one that everyone should have the pleasure of having. This is the book that will change lives by provoking us directly but delicately on a philosophical journey. Complex enough to keep me engaged yet simple enough to delight even young children, My kids (11, 10, 8) and I read this book together as a read aloud. After each read, we had the most interesting discussions and really explored a great deal about ourselves and each other through the journey of the story.

Gimpy's secret is a well-written and simple read that employs an artful use of simplicity. The concept is deep but the author does not rely on verbosity or heavy language to weave a delightfully light tale that packs the heavy impact of a powerful message.

The concept is love, but it's not told the same old way in which we are accustomed. The story of Gimpy's Secret is so much more than just another story with a moral lesson. It's about love, kindness and respect yes, but these ideas aren't simply thrown at the reader. The story is relateable and contemporary without being kitschy or goofy. As the story unfolds the reader is prompted to truly think about relationships and preconditioned impulses. Not only does Gimpy's story highlight how we relate to each other, but how we treat ourselves and most importantly, how our relationships are inter-weaved and ultimately affect our community environment, both immediate and far reaching.

These ideas however are not blatantly spoon fed to the reader. Adults and children have something important to learn here and what is especially brilliant is that the story does not directly teach us a predetermined lesson. As we slide the pages, we are engaged and prompted to think and ponder, which opens the mind and ultimately we discover for ourselves a valuable personal lesson.

Experience this book on your own or with your family. It is a timeless and ageless story of the many facets of love, human nature and the power of relationship.
