About the Author

Cathy Howard has always believed in the idea that dreams can come true if you believe they can. From an early age, Cathy was mesmerized by the celebrity dog Lassie. She always dreamed that one day she would meet the canine star. Not only did she end up meeting Lassie, Cathy became close friends of Lassie's family. They gave her the treasured gift of her lifetime; a Lassie puppy named Gina. Through Gina's collie personality, Cathy created the character Gina Bina to encourage children to believe that dreams can be achieved regardless of challenges. Cathy wrote and directed the stage show Dreams DO Come True starring Gina. The production was widely acclaimed in Florida where they performed. Since relocating to Southern California, Cathy and Gina have appeared on HGTV's Ultimate Collectors and they have a role in an upcoming Hollywood documentary showcasing their years together. Gina is a registered Therapy Dog on staff at a local nursing facility. Cathy is currently a training and development specialist. She and Gina live with their partner Stephen, Tina the rescue collie, and three very talkative birds.
