my 6-year-old likes this one,

We are borrowing this from the library and my daughter wants me to read it to her over and over again. The story is very cute. At first you think it's about Horace, a little boy who has made a delicious cookie, but then it takes a twist and you enter the world of the cookie. The artwork is really great. This author can do it all. I recommend this one.

Ginger Bear is a gem.,
This review is from: Ginger Bear (Hardcover)
My four and six year old love this book. We picked it up from the library and it became an instant classic. It is on my "to buy" list. For my four year old it is a fun and imaginative story of a gingerbread bear that escapes being eaten by his maker, Horace. My six year old and I enjoy the humor and irony. My favorite line, "Bongo the dog loved cookies too (but not in a way that is particulary good for cookies)." The illustrations are great too.

This book chronicles the life of Ginger Bear, a cookie. Horace's mum gives him some gingerbread dough and a cookie cutter and he makes a cookie. He doesn't get to eat Ginger Bear so he saves him in a tin on his pillow. During the night Ginger Bear gets bored, goes into the kitchen and makes lots of cookie bear friends decorated as circus performers. The cookies perform their circus acts in the kitchen until Bongo the dog interrupts. After Bongo comes into the kitchen all of the cookies are reduced to little pieces except for Ginger Bear. Bongo is a little scary with teeth bared but it's not too scary. My kids seem to accept that this is what a dog would to to a kitchen full of cookies. I highly recommend this book and anything else by Mini Grey.
