What a sham! It doesn't have the Ginger Snaps theme!, October 21, 2005
This review is from: Ginger Snaps (Audio CD)
This is really a great movie, I've always enjoyed the movie, and the soundtrack is nice. It contains some good music, particularly I like "Cloning Technology" by Fear Factory, "Of One Blood" by Shadows Fall, and "Desire To Fire" by Machine Head. However, a lot of the music on here is somewhat generic and uninspired, though most of it is used quite well in the movie.
However, the unforgiveable sin this soundtrack commits is not including the original Ginger Snaps theme written by Mike Shields or the closing credits version, when any good soundtrack should include both! It really is an outrage, because the Ginger Snaps theme versions are the best two songs in the movie, and feature the most prominently. It's incredibly bizarre not to include them. In particular, the version that plays over the end credits is simply amazing - this CD would be easily worth the price if it just had that song, which starts out with as a haunting cello piece that becomes a riveting Collide-like techno dirge before bleeding the two together at the end. Simply wonderful. But inexcusably it isn't included so don't bother buying this soundtrack, instead find a source for a high-quality download of the theme. Lucky for me I've gotten mine but unfortunately for others the closing credits (my preferred version of the two by far) has proven more difficult to find a good quality download of in the years since the film has been released. The original version of theme you hear in the beginning is available for free and legal download at www.mikeshields.com (the site of the composer). Unfortunately that site does not have the ending credits (superior, to me) version of the theme.
But anyway, if you really like the music from the film besides the Ginger Snaps theme, by all means by this CD. If you're looking for the Ginger Snaps theme, don't buy this.

AWESOME SOUNDTRACK, WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHERS, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Ginger Snaps (Audio CD)
THIS SOUNDTRACK WAS ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY THAT I SPENT ON IT. IT HAS MOSTLY HEAVY MUSIC ON, WHICH I REALLY LIKE. I DON'T THINK THAT IT HAS A BAD SONG ON THE WHOLE CD. IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH CHECKING OUT.

I hate 'inspired from' soundtracks... they're RUBBISH!!!, February 22, 2011
This review is from: Ginger Snaps (Audio CD)
I love this movie, but the cd soundtrack is a complete misfire considering their are 14 tracks on the cd but only 5 tracks appear on it from the movie. Were is the wonderful score by Michael Shields [???] It was a very memorable & moving theme & should have been on the cd, but it was not. The score was the main reason why I went out to buy the soundtrack in the first place...
The tracks which do feature in the movie & on the cd are...
Fear Factory - Cloning Technology
Glassjaw - Siberian Kiss
Junkie XL - Action Radius
Machine Head - Desire To Fire
Soulfly - First Commandment
The rest of the songs listed at the end of the movie that do not appear on the cd are...
Bon Voyage - Kiss My Lips
Sprawl - Star
Junkie XL - Love Like Razorblade
Razed in Black - Overflow
Fear Factory - Remanufacture
The Step Kings - Vibe
The tracks that don't feature in the movie but on the cd by bands like C.O.F., Godhead, Project 86, Sinch are not very good, it's the type of music you would expect to find on a free cd issued with Metal Hammer.
Overall, this cd soundtrack just does not reflect the true experience I felt when I watched the movie. DO NOT BUY!!!
