5.0 out of 5 stars high quality, April 6, 2008

This review is from: Gingher 5-Inch Knife Edge Sewing Scissors (Kitchen)
My mother was a professional seamstress, and she used ginghers. When I picked up sewing as a practical hobby, I tried all kinds of scissors at the sewing studio where I take lessons and at various stores. I thought something more "ergo" would be better than the 30 year old ginghers I had inherited from my mother. I was wrong. You can't beat ginghers. I use my mother's ginghers at home, this pair for all kinds of snips while sewing, and I bought a set of new gingher dressmakers and embroidery scissors to keep in my sewing kit I take to class.

5.0 out of 5 stars Their certainly the sharpest on the market, June 24, 2010
This review is from: Gingher 5-Inch Knife Edge Sewing Scissors (Kitchen)
I picked up a few Gingher scissors for myself and the wife and for use in our sewing/crafts room. Never in my life of 61 years have I got cut with any scissors, until I got the 5" dressmaker scissors. I snipped a thread and my finger tip was just a bit too far towards the scissors tip and the result was 6 stitches at the ER. These are perhaps the best scissors I have ever had or that is made, and the price is more than reasonable. Highly recomend Ginghers over any currently available scissors youfind in big box stores and most specialty shops as well as on line. (I am Roy not Tara we just use the same account to simplify things)

Great buy and product lives up to the Gingher reputation for quality. I do keep in mind the review I read about clipping the end of a finger, as they are sharp! I highly recommend them for any quilter or sew-er!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tailor's Choice, December 18, 2011
This review is from: Gingher 5-Inch Knife Edge Sewing Scissors (Kitchen)
This is an essential part of any tailor or dressmaker's tool kit. The 5 inch sharp/blunt is the best tool for things like grading seams, clipping to notches, setting pocket welts, opening buttonholes, and much more. I keep a pair at the machine and another at the bench.

So far as this specific brand and model, the quality is excellent. They are super sharp. A screw allows adjustment as they may need it. They are made of heavy steel. So there is no problem at all with cutting through fabric plus interlining, plus interfacing, plus lining, all doubled at a corner.

So if you are buying for a serious sewer, be confident in this one. With a rotary cutter, an embroidery scissor, and this, you can make anything.

Years ago I started using Gingher shears when I was taking a sewing class. I bought the large pair and this same small pair. I still have the large pair; but I lost the small ones. The large ones are still sharp and I don't think I have ever had them sharpened. I was glad to see that Amazon sells this great brand. These are just what i expected. Thank you.

This is the perfect size sewing scissor to have near your sewing machine to clip thread or ends of fabric. And as you would expect from Gingher they cut great. I have Ginghers in every size, and this one lives up to its purpose.
