Color Name: 4"-Embroidery-Scissors
My days as a Gingher designer series collector are over unless they bring the quality back up to par. I purchased these scissors and decided to sell them as soon as I had them in my hands. The quality on these scissors is NOTHING like what we've enjoyed on previous releases (I'm referring to everything prior to the Tessa and Emily designs). My main complaints:
1) The fingerholes are smaller. I have small hands, and I could feel a definite difference. Held the Emily scissors against an earlier pair, and the holes *are* smaller.
2) The design feels like vinyl or something similar, not like the smooth, enameled finish of previous scissors.
3) The finishing is not as good. At the blade end of the handles, just below the pivot screw, there are some rough areas.
4) WORST PROBLEM OF ALL is how the design was applied to the handles. One of the loveliest aspects of previous releases is the way the design was applied to wrap seamlessly around the handles, unbroken and beautiful. NOT SO with these scissors! If you hold them level and look at the handles from the side, you can CLEARLY a seam where the design was applied "top and bottom." The pattern does not match across the seam; it looks just like a sewn seam in calico fabric with a definite line and no pattern matching.

If you own a pre-Tessa pair of 4" designer embroidery scissors and compare the Emily scissors to your other ones, you will see the difference. For me, the way the pattern was applied is a complete deal-breaker. I own every pattern but 2 in this line, and I can't believe they have the nerve to charge the same price for these as they have for earlier releases.

I collect the Gingher designer line as well. My only problem is that these did not come with the tin. I learned that the hard way after I had purchased the scissors (but kept them anyway). I compared the finish as suggested, but there is no difference between my older "Sarah" and "Emma" 4" pairs, so maybe there was a change in providers in the manufacturing process? Dunno but I'm happy with mine, only problem is no tin.

I love these Scissors! I have small hands and they work perfectly. They cut just as well as previous pairs of designer scissors I have owned. I buy the limited edition scissors every year for my collection. By far these are my favorites as well as the tessa and sonia designs.
