I came across these knives as I was hunting for another brand, so it was not like I was hunting for Ginsu on purpose. At first, I didn't even take it seriously. The memory of their silly infomercials has been burned in my brain for years, I considered this brand a cultural joke of sorts. After reading other reviews on this particular line, I actually started to really think about it.

Okay, what the heck, I picked this up on a warehouse deal. If it is really terrible, I can send it back. They just came in, and I cannot believe it. What really nice knives!! They have a pretty decent heft to them, too. They weren't super-super sharp right out of the box, but one of them was---OUCH! Shoulda been more careful. But they were sharp enough.
The set consists of a 3.5-inch paring knife, a 5-inch utility knife, a 5-inch Santoku, and a 6-inch chef's knife. Nothing is serrated.

The knife block is solid and sturdy. It has the Ginsu name printed on one side only, so you can turn it to the wall if you don't want no one to see that.

I still ordered the Global that I was after originally, but these will make a very useful addition. I almost didn't buy them 'cause I couldn't get past the Ginsu thing. Now, however, I think I'm going back for a set of steak knives. Truly, these are not cheesy knives.

So, if these things do not hold up, I will be back to revise this. Right now, I'm at the "very impressed" stage and I feel optimistic.
I wonder if these things actually will cut through a soda can? Not that I'm going to try it, just wondering . . .

When I saw this on Amazon I smiled becasue it was such a nice looking set, high grade, and the size was perfect. The price wasn't to bad either. So I said to myself, self you have to purchase this; when i received it I smiled yet again becasue I was so pleased, it was exactly as shown at Amazon.

By the bye this set looks so so good in my kitchen!!

All our knives were dull so I purchased these just for special purposes. They are great; however, I have cut myself a few times since I am not used to knives this sharp. Love them!

So many knife sets come with steak knives, which I don't need. So this small set was the perfect option for me after I downsized to a small apartment. The block is small, but heavy enough to act as a "bookend" for my cutting board. The knife blades are imprinted with "Japanese steel" on one side and a tiny "China" on the other. Don't know what's up with that. Steel taken from Japan to China for shaping into knives?

I got these knives here on Amazon.com for half of the retail price and, in all honesty, I believe these knives are even worth paying that full price. These ARE NOT those cheesy knives everyone saw on infomercials back in the day. These are the knives that made the Ginsu name famous. All these knives are EXTREMELY sharp out of the box. All the knives appear to be full tang (One solid metal piece from the tip of the blade to the butt of the handle). The handle itself is made of a black rubber-type material that is very comfortable in the hand. The one important thing about keeping knives like these in great shape and in a lasting state is to HAND wash them and dry them. Do not dishwasher or even air dry these babies. If you are not willing to wash and dry these by hand after each use, then just pass these knives up. Also, I forgot to mention the knife block itself. It is made of pieces of bamboo and is a very classy way to have these knives out for display.

These knives won't blow you away with their sharpness, but they are decent for the price. The circular block is cool and having only four knives keeps it nice and simple looking. The only concern I have is that they are a bit small. If you are expecting "normal" size knives, you will probably be a little disappointed, especially with the santoku which is only 5 inches. But they have a nice balance to them and I would recommend the set overall. (PS- despite what the product highlights might say, rest assured that these are not serrated.)

These knives are extemely well made and are balanced perfectly in your hand. It is a joy to prep veggies etc. for the meal. They slice thru food like butter. I would definitely recommend this set.

I ordered the Ginsu 7107 5-Piece Round Bamboo Knife Set with Block specifically for the cute ROUND bamboo block. Item received was a small rectangular block with the 4 knives. It's fine, just not what I was expecting. Box has multiple labels--one I can't quite read, one labeled 5-piece Chikara Prep Set then another labeled Ginsu 7107 5-piece Round...

The 4 knives are exactly as described. The rectangular block is approx. 7"H x 2 3/4"W x 4 1/4"D bamboo (veneer) with Ginsu, logo and Chikara across the front 2 3/4" width; the top of the block is slightly curved. Block could be turned toward the front or the side. At 12"H including block and longest knife, it fits easily on my kitchen counter under a cabinet, and knives can be removed without moving block.

Knives and block were packaged well and received in excellent condition. I'm giving 5 stars, because I really like the Ginsu knives. I will keep this set, even though a different block was sent. Hand wash and dry the knives right away recommended.

The best Knives I used so far. Perfect for white meats and vegetables. I have been using it over 3 weeks and no complaints so far.
