I've had this set for several months now and it stands up very well. The knife holds an extremely sharp edge with minimal honing after every use. It's well balanced and slices through meats and birds with ease. Yes the box is relatively cheap but that is secondary for me. It holds the set in a drawer and isn't a display piece. Keeps the set free from knicks and scratches and looks fine. Mine was easy to open and close unlike the previous reviewer.

the carving knife and fork are of very good quality, but the case is not. to open up the case I have to nearly force it open. every time i feel my hand will go though the glass. Sliding the cover on is just as difficult. Which is why I decided to return it.

Half the reason why I bought the set is for the case, I needed a safe place where I can put the knife, because I knew it would be sharp, which it is.

The felt on the inside is only on cheap plastic, but I suppose for the price that is what you can expect.

When you get down to it, the knife and carving fork are of exceptional quality, it is dissappointing to see such a nice knife set in such a cheap case.

I have returned it to amazon for the case. With the amount of force you have to apply to open it, I did not feel it was safe.

I've only used it once for a pork roast, but it cut great. Good value for the money. I have a Cutco seraded knife at our other house, and so far this one seems to cut as well.
