It was supposed to be a gift so I sent it back.

They are cheaper knives, but they work very well, as good as my expensive knives!
Ashley
One if the smaller knives was plain and didn't even have the stamped embossing.

this is a nice set of knives, but they are not what they seem to be.

1. 420J2 budget quality stainless steel (doesn't hold edge well, but durable)
2. these are not japanese blades :
A. the blade is printed made in china
B. the patterning is actually stamped into the metal as oppose the metal was "worked" (fake pattern)
C. claim to be forged but I highly doubt that due to the false pattern
3. the sheers don't separate

Knowing all that and you just want a knife set thats about a 100 bucks (bought as lightning deal) not a bad deal

These are very cheap knives. The engravings on the sides are stamped on very poorly. The base is also poorly made, and the logo stamped on the front is very faint. Oh and the knives are not labled with Koga series, they are manquee series. I will try and return them myself.

Ordered the 10 piece Koga Series Ginsu knife set. The only thing Koga was the bamboo holder. All knives were Marquee Series, made in China. They are decent, but when I order something, I expect to receive what was advertised. Very disappointed in Amazon with this purchase.

This was not what I was hoping for when I originally bought this deal. The quality is below average for a Ginsu knife with craftsmanship that feels a little on the cheap side.

I would not recommend this as I will return this despite the good deal I received on it.

Purchased Ginsu Koga Series knife set. Received set marked Marquee and Made in China. Where it was made wasn't that important to me but not being the correct series caused me to return it. One if the smaller knives was plain and didn't even have the stamped embossing. The only thing marked Koga was the knife block.

I got a crazy good deal on these. I couldn't care less about the lame pattern on the knives that everyone else seems to have a hangup about (but it was present on all the knives not the honing rod or the scissors). What I care about is a good function and durability. These knives feel very sturdy and comfortable in the hand, the knife blades are very thick and stiff (visibly thicker than the Farberware set they replaced), they shipped with a good edge and after a quick honing I could slice a piece of paper smoothly from the edge. Nice assortment of knives fits just about any application. Block is attractive however this is where the weakness lies for me, I have lowish cabinets and the knives face at a very steep angle which will hit the bottom of the cabinet when trying to remove from the block. I would have preferred a deeper block with the knives at a greater horizontal angle. I simply have to pull the block forward, but I would have preferred to have it flush against the wall.

Retail of $180 I'd pass. Currently showing $110 which still seems high. Under $60 I don't think you could go wrong.

I love this knife set. It has everything I need and the knives are of great quality. I have only been using them for about a month so I can't speak to how they wear over time yet, but will update this review if anything negative arises.
