PROS:

+ Only takes 3 hours to charge, as opposed to Sony's 6 hours
+ A great low-cost alternative to the Sony PS3 headset
+ Clear sound receiving and sending
+ Comfortable fit, adjustable ear hook and microphone placement

CONS:

- It's only fitted for the right ear
- You have to use the charge cable with this product, PS3 cords won't work
- Mute does not show on the PlayStation 3 screen

------------------------------------------------

Gioteck seems to have done their homework and improved on their previous EX-01 and EX-02 headsets. When I game online, I want to make sure that other players can hear me, I can hear them, and I can mute without too much hassle. The EX-03 meets each of my requirements.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

I was irritated by the small font in the instruction book, but that's a minor gripe.

Pairing was a little cumbersome, I had to scan my headset to register it as a Bluetooth device, whereas my Sony PS3 headset was recognized by connecting it with a USB cable.

PROS:

I was happy to see it only took 3 hours to get a full charge on the EX-03 headset, my old Sony PS3 headset took 6 hours to fully charge.

There were 3 earbuds included, and I used the smallest one. The earbud focused the sound inside my ear and was very soft, which was a vast improvement over my Sony PS3 earpiece.

When I played Little Big Planet 1 and 2 and Splinter Cell: Blacklist, all the other players could hear me without any problems, and I could hear them loud and clear.

As a PS3 owner and long-time gamer I've got more than a few Bluetooth headsets that I've used with my console. I started out with using a Motorola BT headset that I primarily used with my Motorola RAZR (that's how far back I've been using my PS3... whoa!). Graduated to a dedicated Logitech Wireless Vantage headset and finally settled on a wired Turtle Beach PX-21 most recently. I've also had experience in using Jabra, Plantronics, and Sony's official PS3 BT headset.

--------------------
SETUP:

Anyone who has ever paired a BT headset knows the routine - turn on your device you wish to pair to (PS3), go to Settings > Devices > BT devices > Scan. Then turn on the Gioteck EX03 and the device will appear as 'found' on-screen. Select the device, enter the pin: 0000 and the devices will pair. If you have any other audio input devices paired with your PS3 be sure to select the EX03 as you active input and output device. In simpler terms setup is as easy as any other BT device that I've used.

--------------------
DESIGN:

The EX03 looks like an adolescents BT headset. I don't mean that as a snipe or a bad thing, the device has a type of cool factor, though I wouldn't wear this on my ear in public. The EX03 is quite a bit larger than standard BT headsets that have tried to somewhat become as small as feasibly possible. The size can be attributed to both the ear look, the mic boom, and the actual earpiece/receiver. The design as I interpret it is more function over form.

The design of an over the ear loop and adjustable boom in my experience make this headset a bit more comfortable than traditional BT headsets, particularly those that don't have any type of over the ear support.

I have owned and reviewed quite a few headsets. I really didn't expect much from one in this price range, but was pleasantly surprised. I like the way it fits in your ear, and the sound is great. The only negative was that unless I had the mic very close to my mouth there were times I couldn't be heard. That could just be me, or it could be this one unit. Overall, for the price, you can't beat it!

I started with reading the manual. after some careful reading on the charging instructions which said before using the product it is highly recommended to charge it for 2 or 4 hours i cant remember. anyways the red light on the headset was supposed to turn blue when it was done charging. 5 hours pass and the light is still red so i unplugged it and paired it to my playstation. i was in mid chat with a friend online and switched headsets so i wont have a cord hanging off my face. the audio was from clear conversation on my wired headset to a muffled mess where he sounded like he had a sudden mouthful of penut butter and horrible static. he said that he couldnt hear a word i was saying either after i switched back to my wired headset. ive emailed the seller and it turned into a conversation that lasted a week to a week 1/2 conversation due to a 48 hour waiting period for a response. amazon helped me clearify my request and helped me explain the situation. Ive done my research and the seller doesnt even have a contact number so i was forced to contact them only through slow and painfully long emails for a timely manner. i needed a bluetooth for traveling as well and i thought this headset would do both for me. with no money to buy a new one and days of frustration for a needy product i paid for but i am waiting to have is not good. i cannot dig in my pocket while im on the road trying to get somewhere in a timely manner. i hope these sellers start getting some phone numbers to contact them back by so i could talk to them directly for help on a product. this shoudlnt be a problem with all of these headsets. giotek seller should be the best. buy from them. not the 3rd party people. buy it from the main source. or you might end up in the same situation i was. luckily i got help from amazon to return this product. i bought a brand new bluetooth that works for both purposes. im happy now. but that headset is on another review :) (JETech H0780 Universal Bluetooth headset)
