Book Description

Lo Scarabeo Decks December 8, 2001
While searching for a new point of view, whether in trying to solve a problem or gaining insight into a situation, people can enlist the help of the Tarot. It is a perfect tool for bridging the gap between two points of view or two seemingly unconnected worlds. The artist Giotto di Bondone played a similar role in the world of art. His work marks the transition from Romanesque to Gothic. He moves from the solely symbolic to the natural, just as the Tarot moves from archetype to individual human experience. For example, Giotto was the first artist to paint the sky blue instead of gold. Drawing on this important artistic style, Zibordi, an Italian painter and expert in Medieval art, creates for us an exquisite deck celebrating Giotto's work and the spirit of Tarot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beatiful artwork; great symbology, March 4, 2005

This review is from: Giotto Tarot (Lo Scarabeo Decks) (Cards)
Since I got this deck at Christmas I have been using it all the time. It's a great deck with beatuiful artwork based on Giotto by Guido Zibordi. Reading with it is difficult at first because it is so symbol rich; thankfully the little white book (lwb) helps you along. An example of this is the King of Chalices
which the booklet says

Honest man who is looking downwards who however makes hurried (arrows) decisions and so therefore is not trustworthy (the broken column).

But if you look at the card more and really get into you see the King is holding a cup and thus too immersed in his own feelings to have noticed that he broke the column; which goes very well in hand with the traditional meanings of such a Court card.

The lwb gives you come history of who Giotto was, "considered on of Europe;s greatest painters. His works marks the transition from Romanesque to Gothic rt, in short heralding those human and expressive values which Humanism took on in later centuries...'
and comes with a starter spread, the Giotto O, which I have found insightful and helpful.

So I highly recommend this deck, to those who like Giotto's work, those who appreciate fine art and finally those who would like a deck that is not "run of the mill" but eccentric.
