This review is from: Giottos SP8301L Aegis Multi-coated LCD Screen Protector for Canon 40D, 50D, Canon D5 Mark II, 1D/1DS Mark III and Sony A900 (Electronics)
I bought this for my EOS 40D several months ago (a year?). I must admit I was disappointed when I received it as I had thought it would be something that clips onto the back of the camera like I see for the Nikon D300. I installed it anyway, very simple - however didn't do a good job of cleaning the LCD beforehand (piece of lint) and I didn't line it up properly over the LCD.
Well, I put it to the test inadvertently 4 weeks ago as I was participating in Scott Kelby's Global Photowalk. I put the camera on my dashboard and as I sat down on the seat of the car my weight made the car shift and the camera slipped off the dash. I don't know what it hit but it fell screen first and I just managed to catch it after it bounced off of "something." Needless to say the Giottos screen was split from end to end, diagonally across. If the camera had been without this protective screen that would have likely been the end of my LCD! My solution was to re-order two more, one to replace the broken one and another as a spare. This time I have affixed it properly (lined up) and cleaned the LCD and glass of all lint. The broken glass was removed as per instructions - heated with a blow dryer, and came off very easily. Completely satisfied.

Listen people, It is a glue on protection GLASS with multi coatings, and after you glue it on the camera, it stays forever, of course you can take it off but if you do so then it won't glue on the LCD properly again. So it is not like you can put it on and take it off anything you want. The glue part is only on the sides where located at the black area on the protection screen. So don't worry it won't stick to your camera's LCD screen.
the protection screen is well built and look just like the LCD screen that is on your camera. after installed it and turn on the camera, by looking at the pictures throw the screen, you can't tell any difference. I'm very picky person and It looks prefect to me. so if any of you guys are thinking to get this, you will like it, as long as you are okay with the glue on. my recommendation for best protection after install the glass to your camera. put an inexpensive protection film over the glass, they are very cheap like 5 dollars for 12 or 18 sheets. they are like the film that you put on your cell phone screen. because the Giottos glass can be scratched and after scratches it won't look nice. with the film over it you can just remove it anytime easily and replace a new one. no need to rub or clean the finger prints or nose prints on the screen again. (rubbing with cloth on the giottos glass can cause light scratches) ;-)

seemd a bit overpriced for a piece of glass, but it feels well made. the clear screen is a bit smaller than the screen of a canon 7D, which it was supposed to fit, but it's a small difference, so it works fine.
