Girder and Panel Tekton Tower

I was just telling a friend I wish I had saved my Girder and Panel building set from when I was a kid because I LOVED it. I am so happy this company has brought it back and I think my kids will have just as much fun as I did with mine.

My 6 year old son bought this with his own money and he loves to build with it. He's been a Lego fan and now he has something new to build with. He's already requested other Tekton pieces. The only downfall is that windows are hard for him to get on and some need to be cut to be able to fit in the building designs but as long as he can build, he doesn't care if some windows are missing.

My son says the Tekton building system is "pretty fun". He picked it out of a catalog for Christmas. At first it was confusing and he thought he had to trim the panels to make them fit. Once he realized how they went together he had no trouble making buildings. He thinks it could be much more durable.

I had a pretty big set when I was a kid. The set I had included an electric monorail that hooked to the outside of your buildings.

Somebody got a big piece of fiberboard for me, drilled holes in the right places, and voila, I had a huge base on which to make my buildings. I had an old motorific set, and I set roads in between the buildings. Hours and hours of imaginative building.

The thing about this building set is that it teaches about rigidity, balance, torsion loads, and asthetics. I'm an engineer now, dunno if I liked Beams&Girders because I have an engineer's mind or vice-versa... chicken-egg.

I bought this for my grandson. He has spent hours enjoying it. My daughter thinks it is one of the best gifts I ever picked.

I had a Kenner Girder and Panel Building Set when I was young. I bought the Tekton Tower for my grandson for Christmas. We all had fun building things right away when he opened it. I'll probably add to his collection on birthdays. Great buy!

My son loved this toy when he was 9 to 13. 40 years later his son at the same age is playing with the girders from that set, plus extra parts added especially for him. Building an 8 foot tower can be a lot of fun especially with windows, flags, and additional towers - but you'll need a considerable number of extra parts.

I had one of these as a kid in the late 50's and I must have played with it for years. I still have it today.It must have influenced me a lot because I went into the building trades and I went on to school and studied building and design and still work in that field today.
