Always in my head,

Such a great musical, I'm surprised i've never heard of it before until my school actualy decided to perform it. Playing for the show orchestra, I got to see the music, and hear it everyday and instantly fell in love with it. I just wish I could see the real thing somewhere else. Enjoy, i know you'll love it as much as I had

Great Musical,

Ever since I first heard this music, while in rehearsal for the show, I haven't been able to stop singing with it. There are very fun songs, such as "The Lambeth Walk" and "You Would If You Could" along with beautiful works such as "Leaning on a Lampost" and "Once You Lose Your Heart." I am very surprised that this was not a very famous show. Just listen to the music, I guarantee you will love it.

This is an excellent soundtrack. My middle school is currently rehearsing for it, and I have fallen in love with every song. Most are very upbeat, such as, The Sun has Got His Hat On, Take it On the Chin, and Family Solictor. Great soundtrack, and if any of my friends from school are pondering if you should buy it or not, do it, it's worth it. Have fun with the soundtrack!

One of the Happiest Plays I've Ever Seen,

This review is from: Me And My Girl (1986 Original Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
I saw this back in 1986 when it came to New York, three times! I fell in love with the music, and found the orchestration to be superb! The story has been told before in other movies and plays, but that was not the point. It was just an evening of toe-tapping, foot-stomping fun. You won't be able to get the tunes out of your head. Ironically, because of where I was sitting at each performance (on the aisle), I got to shake hands with one of the performers when they danced into the audience while performing "The Lambeth Walk"!
I've been trying to find a revival anywhere, and I've heard it may be performed back in London. If so, my wife and I are on the first thing smokin' across the pond! :-)

Wonderful Broadway Cast Recording,

"Me and My Girl" is a delightful show. The music is nothing heavy, just uplifting, magical, and old-fashioned fun. Stellar performances by Robert Lindsay as Bill Snibson, Timothy Jerome as "The Family Solicitor" and Nick Ullett as Gerald Bolingbroke stand out in this album featuring such great songs as "Leaning on a Lamp Post" "The Sun Has Got His Hat On" and 'The Lambeth Walk" END

I love this musical... but I have some small nits with this performance and recording. The vocalists tend to over stylize the singing-- a bit too much spoken word, overly dramatic inflection with exaggurated accents, and a tendancy to cover it all with an overly wide vibrato. I may be a bit retentive, but I usually appreciate a greater attention to enunciation, pitch and tone control. The vocalists and orchestra seem to fight for intelligibility with the recording in spots-- I'm guessing they expended little effort to position the microphones and mix the result. Sometimes it sounds like you've got a third tier balcony seat, and everything is a bit smudged together. Lower-register instruments also seem to be attenuated. That said, these are nitpicks, and the CD--especially being the only recording of Me and My Girl easily available--is a worthwhile purchase.

One of the least pretentious and most enjoyable musicals. with some catchy tunes and original lyrics.
The initial London run was 1646 performances. The 1984 revival ran for 8 years. - this was not an accident. Let your hair down and enjoy!!!

Six months ago, I worked as stage crew for this musical. I loved the songs so much I went on a mission to find the soundtrack..this proved to a difficult task in the land of Aus, so I was thrilled when I found it here... after anxiously awaiting my package, it was worth every second.. This is a musical to put on when you're happy, sad, angry, because, let's face it, it's just going to make you happy!! Who can resist the lyrics "take it on the chin, put on a little grin and smile.." Even if you are not familiar with the musical, this cast recording is high quality and highly enjoyable!

A Wonderful Musical,

My theatre group is performing this musical for the 2006 season. I bought the CD to get a little more of an idea about what the original musical was like and fell in love with it. I think it is a fabulous CD and would recommend it to anyone who loves classic music theatre. The only downside I found was the overly used vibrato, which overpowered some pieces. However, I loved tunes such as the classic "Lambeth Walk" and the borderline manic "Thinking of No One But Me". I only wish I could have seen this show while it was on Broadway!
