5.0 out of 5 stars The Girl Who Cried Flowers and other tales, May 2, 2000

I actually own this book, My aunt gave it to me for my birthday when I was younger. These stories are absolutely amazing, I still read this book. I almost have the stories memorized. The pictures are absolutely breathtaking. My personal favorite is the Weaver of Tomorrow. If you see this book somewhere, grab it, it's well worth it...

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful book, May 10, 2005
I had this book when I was a child and I remember how beautiful the stories and illustrations were -- my favorite was the titular "Girl Who Cried Flowers" about a girl who later turned into an olive tree. The stories are poignant and touching; Yolen's text is like dark chocolate: rich and to be savored slowly, over and over again, though without the possibility of ever getting sick of it; the illustrations are rich, imaginative, and exquisitely rendered. A beautiful book that I hope is reprinted for future generations to enjoy.

My Father read this to me when I was young...it was his favorite book...I was looking for the actual book but ended up with only the tape. I was not disappointed!! Having the author read it gives it the life she wanted for those stories!! wonderfully done!
