More About the Author

I was born in Lafayette, IN and moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1964. I taught elementary school for a few years and then pursued a graduate degree at the University of MN. I graduated with a Ph.D. in 1979. I published my first book, EACH DAY A NEW BEGINNING: DAILY MEDITATIONS FOR WOMEN with Hazelden Publishing in 1982. It has been followed by the publication of 21 other books, the most recent of which is CULTIVATING HOPE. In early summer of this year (2010), Conari will be publishing the 23rd book: LET GO NOW: EMBRACING DETACHMENT. I found this book in the library one day and I have already read the entire book myself. It is actually for girls age 11-15 but I enjoyed it too. You can't keep books from the library forever and I knew I had to have a copy for my daughter. So I came here and YES amazon.com had it, I was thrilled and ordered it right away. The book is like a daily devotional book, giving girls a quote at the top of the page , then a story , then another quote at the bottom. All of the stories are insightful and inspirational. This is a GREAT book.

No one with girls over eleven can go wrong buying this book. We have already worn out one in my household and are on our second copy. We read one entry before breakfast and then settle into great discussion over our meal. I recommend this as a wonderful way to open communcations with your teenaged girls.
