a very good book but...,
This review is from: Girl Friday (Paperback)
unfortunately it is sold under the name "the dune road" by amazon itself. so unless you are a one time buyer of jane green's novels, you'll fall into the same trap as me and buy the same book, twice. They should really tag this book under the same title and make it officially known that girl friday and the dune road are really the same book!

Buyer BEWARE!! For those of you that are Jane Green fans, this is the same book as "Dune Road". I guess they changed the name to re-market it. I purchased it thinking it was another novel only to realize I'd already read it!!!

I am a huge fan of Jane Green books and this one was yet another that I was unable to put down. The other great thing about it was that it was the first book I read on my brand new Kindle. I live in Australia and it was fantastic to be able to order a Kindle and use it here.

AWFUL,

I am a voracious reader. I read a lot of "chick lit" when I was in my teens and thought I had burned out on it in my 20s. I'd heard phenomenal things about Jane Green, though, so in Europe last summer, I picked this novel up to give it a try. I needed a read for the flight back and thought, what the hell? How can you go wrong with something light and fluffy?
WARNING: This book is not light, nor is it fluffy. The characters are awful and manipulative, the situations range from unbelievable to actually terrifying, and by the end, you won't know who to root for or if you even should. I certainly didn't. After reading this, I honestly have no idea how Jane Green got to be such a popular author, because it is literally the worst book I have ever read in my life. |
