Please save your money and your sanity. My child was so excited about this and it was a big disappointment. The fondant didn't set up right. The "cakes" tasted awful. This is possibly the biggest waste of money ever!!

Interesting that the only good review appears to be from the mfg. Buyer beware,

If you notice that Jordan "J" reviewed this as positive and the only other two reviews "J" has done is to review other products by the same company...also where he is the only positive review. How lame.

My daughter received this as a gift and was so excited as she loves Ace of Cakes -- What A big disappointment - fondant never became the right consistency - cakes are tiny and rubbery - just a lot of plastic junk that I will probably throw out by the end of the week...Duff - get your name off of this product as fast as possible!

My daughter received this for her birthday and was so excited to make her own cakes. It was a disaster!! She couldn't bake her own cakes - had to use a real microwave. Then the frosting wouldn't roll out properly and the cakes were disgusting. What a big mess!! And there are too many junky little plastic pieces that ended up in the trash. Don't waste your money!!

I bought this set because my kids love watching Cake Boss. It was on sale for about half of what it is on here so I thought we would give it a try. After reading the reviews, I was very worried opening this product, to the point that I stocked up on additional cake mix and pre-made fondant to be sure my daughter wasn't disappointed if it didn't work. We made the cake as directed, which came out perfect for a microwaved cake. Any microwaved baked good isn't going to be overly tasty, but the fact she could make it herself, more than made up for it! Then we made the fondant, following the directions as they stated. It came out great!!! If you only use the one, small spoon of water that it tells you to, and mix like crazy, IT IS PERFECT. I am sure some of you were concerned and added too much water when it looked powdery. DON'T!!!! Keep mixing and it will work. My daughter has a perfect cake she made herself, fondant from the package and all. The fondant is sweet, so the cake tasted good. I couldn't be more pleased with it as, since it is so small, she can add a lot of detail without being overwhelmed. I will let her use the back-up packages of fondant we bought instead of restocking with the Girl Gourmet line, and I am using regular cake mix in that microwave dish because I like the size. All and all, it is adorable and well worth the money I spent for an afternoon of fun. Bonus is that it is very reusable with regular household items. I highly recommend it!

Really Bad "Toy",
This review is from: Girl Gourmet Cake Bakery (Toy)
How disappointing. We tried both cake mixes and neither one would bake into anything that looked like a cake. On top of this, the batter and the cooked mix taste gross. Save your money. Very disappointing.

My daughter was SO EXCITED to get this and quickly SO DISAPPOINTED. The "cakes" are microwaveable and thus not a good consistency or texture. The fondant was terrible. The final product looks NOTHING like the packaging. WASTE of MONEY. Spend time teaching your kids REAL baking and cake decorating- it will be worth it.

I bought this item for my daughter's 9th birthday. She loves the Ace of Cakes and Cake Challenge and was very interested in decoration and making the cakes. Out of five girls and two moms we could not make this work. The cakes are TINY and rubbery. The fondant directions are to add a small spoonful of water. If not enough keep adding more. We never got the fondant the right consistancy. All this created a lot of frustration for all the girls. Basically a useless waste of money and I can't believe that Duff let them put his name on it.

Instead of buying this product, take the money that you would have spent and drop it on the ground in a public place. The smile that you will see when someone picks up the $[...] is far more satisfying then the product, or any of the cakes that it is capable of making.
The cakes are all of an inch tall, and an inch and a half round. Buy a cupcake pan and a package of cupcake mix instead.

Do yourself a favor and just buy a mix and some frosting and really BAKE with your son/daughter! This toy is not the way to go. Fondant is not the right consistency and the "cakes" that come out of the microwave are so stinking small there really is nothing to decorate!
