The Girl from Hollywood,
By Parisonn of Atlantis (Minneapolis, Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Girl From Hollywood (Kindle Edition)
This attempt by Burroughs to reach beyond his Tarzan and sci-fi stories largely fails because while the plot touches on the serious issues of drug addiction and sexual exploitation, his thinly-drawn characters and melodramatic contrivances remain at the "pulp" level. However, Burroughs' style remains highly readable, despite the clunky dialog, and he offers a diverting look at an unsavory fringe of the silent-movie industry.
