3.0 out of 5 stars Girl Interrupted by Ms. Jade
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has brought out some of the most amazing talent in the entire music industry. From the neo-soul sounds of The Roots & Jill Scott, to the street hip hop of Beanie Sigel & Eve this soul city has done little to disappoint. Ms. Jade, the newest femme fatale in the hip hop industry, is reppin' the same city as these veterains, and with Missy...

4.0 out of 5 stars She's A Gangsta....Not A Pranksta..., December 9, 2002
This review is from: Girl Interrupted (Audio CD)
Ms. Jade's debut album from Timbaland's label Beat Club is something to be heard. Can she rap? You bet she can. Forget Ching Ching. Forget Big Head. Those are pure radio songs and really they don't capture her lyrical prowess that is seen on the rest of the album. As a matter of fact those songs, although catchy, make Jade seem pretty wack. But trust me the skill is pretty high. With a definitive commanding voice, she grabs you on each track. Jade truly is a champ. And on top of that she has one of the best producers in the game, Timbaland, backing her album.

Ms. Jade hits the listener with non-stop assaults of lyrical braggadocio and the usual topics. These days it is all about execution, how you present your lyrics. Get Away is the perfect blend of lyricism, a superior flow with crossover appeal. But don't go thinking Jade is a radio head. Jade is a gangsta as witnessed on `She's A Gangsta" where she turns in her most menacing performance of the album. This song will have you believing that Jade will soon be a legend in the rap game. Ching Ching Part 2 has this girl straight up KILLING this track. Her flow is just perfect on the song. Perfect. No joke. Step Up is another lyrical assault from Ms. Jade.

As a matter of fact on the majority of the album Jade is doing the impossible and outshining the beats! Yes Timbaland's beats nearly take a backseat on the entire album. Her style and voice are a mixture between Eve and Foxy Brown and her lyrics are some of the best that any female in the game has to offer. So without further delay, please go buy this album; it is a good start for a runner that will be near the top at the end of the race.

5.0 out of 5 stars This girl interrupted everything..., December 8, 2002

I've been patiently waiting for this album to be released ever since I first heard Ms. Jade last summer on her mix-tape banger "Dream". I knew that her album would be great, but I had no idea it would be like this. I always told myself that no female artist could have a debut album comparable to Rah Digga's "Dirty Harriet", but I've been proven wrong. With songs like "Jade's A Champ", "She's A Gangsta", "Ching Ching" and "The Come Up", this album is easily the best debut from a female hip-hop artist in a long time. Ms. Jade's flow is raw and unrelenting, yet her voice is as smooth as silk. Coupled with production from Timbaland and The Neptunes, the album becomes an incredible sonic barrage of flavor... My only complain is that her underground hit "Dream" isn't on the CD - a song which would have definately boosted the album's power even more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excuse the "Interruption", November 22, 2002
By
Gene Thompson (New Castle, DE USA) - See all my reviews

Ms. Jade as outdone herself with this new club and lyrically ill album intitled, "Girl Interrupted". This cd is not only a must buy, but it is a cd that will be in your jukebox all day and everyday like a standard radio.
It makes you want to hit the floor with floetic rhymes and beats on songs like "Feel The Girl", "Big Head", "Ching Ching Part Two", and "Jade's The Champ".
"You Really Don't Want My Love" and "The Come Up" make my head bob like I'm bobbin for apples. Then emotion sets in when Jade takes it to the streets and yells 'Discuss us if you wanna get hurt!' on "Step Up".
The gangsta chick goes mellow and tells ladies (the song title says it all) "Keep Your Head Up", and goes into a rage telling her ex "Why U Tell Me That".
Child Support and chedder are key on "Ching Ching", but Jade lets people really know what she is and wants on "Different", "She's A Gangsta", "Dead Wrong", "Count It Off", and trys to "Get Away" from chickenheaded females who won't stop peckin.
This album is not a single album, where the only good songs are the singles. This album is a listen through; even the Interlude has you bangin your head on the headboard. Not only is this album full of hot beats produced by Timbaland, the Neptunes, and Beat Brokers, but it has ambitious apperences by Missy Elliott the Misdemeanor herself, Jay-Z a.k.a HOVA, Nesh, Lil' Mo, Tweet, Nate Dogg, and Nelly Furtado.
So yall get your big heads on the floor cause this album will never count off. You can't tell me you don't feel this girl!

3.0 out of 5 stars Girl Interrupted by Ms. Jade, November 8, 2002
This review is from: Girl Interrupted (Audio CD)
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has brought out some of the most amazing talent in the entire music industry. From the neo-soul sounds of The Roots & Jill Scott, to the street hip hop of Beanie Sigel & Eve this soul city has done little to disappoint. Ms. Jade, the newest femme fatale in the hip hop industry, is reppin' the same city as these veterains, and with Missy 'Misdemenor' Elliott & Timbaland backing her she is most likely going to achieve the same fame. After hearing about her rapping talents for quite some time, her oft-delayed debut album Girl Interrupted finally hit stores.

Having been set for original release on June 5th, many of the tracks had been leaked, but Jade being the smart business woman she is re-worked the album and recorded more tracks. One of the major problems though with the pushbacks, was that three different tracks were released as singles. "Feel The Girl", "Big Head" & "Ching Ching Ching" (Featuring Nelly Furtado & Timbaland), the albums first three singles are all on here. The thing I like most about Ms. Jade is that she commands your attention. Unlike most rappers, her album is strictly about her performance and not about what material possesions she has or about how sexy she could be in a video. Thats why rugged tracks like "Jades a Champ", "Gangsta", "Step Up" & "Different" will all become favorites immediatley, because her flow is fierce.

Though Jade is all about her being the main attraction, the supporting roles on the album compliment her style. Jay-Z shows up on the infectious "Count it Off", Lil' Mo pops up on one of the album's best tracks "Why U Tell Me That", and Missy 'Misdemenor' Elliott drops a few notes on "Really Don't Want my Love". However while Jade is at her best most of the time, there are exceptions. On "Dead Wrong" she is EASILY out performed by Nate Dogg whos hypnotizing chorus is the full attention. Tracks like "Intro" & "Interlude" have no purpose on this album, and neither does the NEARLY IDENTICAL remix of "Ching Ching Ching" with Timbaland.

Overall Ms. Jade has done a decent job with her debut album. She is easily one of the best females in the game, and the only chick that can come close to touching female raps obvious rulers, Foxy Brown & Lil' Kim. Keep your eye on her because if her debut shows any foreshadowing of what her carrer will be like, she will most likely leave this game a legend. First she must perfect her game and work with other producers.

4.0 out of 5 stars all about timbo, February 18, 2005
This review is from: Girl Interrupted (Audio CD)
This album is all about the production. Yea, it's "Ms. Jade's" cd, but its nothing without the timbaland beats. If u look past the tight beats, its just mediocore spittin. Still, the beats make it a worthwhile cd, definately buy it. The top tracks are Dead Wrong, Feel the Girl, Big Head, and Ching Ching part II

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, April 6, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Girl Interrupted (Audio CD)
This album is hot, it's honestly the best album by a female rapper that has come out all year. Her flows are on point, beats on point. The only thing this album suffered from was promotion. So anybody reading this that hasn't picked up the album you gotta get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timbaland with the Chains Off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, December 20, 2002
By
This review is from: Girl Interrupted (Audio CD)
This is easily one of the most creative fullfilling Cd's of 2002. It is a shame she isn't getting the prop's she deserves. Timbaland illustrated his full fledge creativity in this Cd. Even better than Missy's latest effort this cd is. Each song is extremley busy and full of exuberace and creativity. Count it Off is a Illustration of Timbaland just letting Go and using his drum machine to the fullest capacity! Ms Jade is a very skilled and speedy on key rapper..would remind you of EVE but with better production! Must get this lp it is a winner as track 2 states! The production speaks for it self (all done by Timbaland, No one else!
