5.0 out of 5 stars Really Great CD!
The "Girl, Interrupted" soundtrack is a really great new CD! Whether you're a fan of the (awesome)movie or haven't seen it yet, this is a really great audio cd. 3.0 out of 5 stars Downtown...
I bought this album for one song in particular which was Downtown. It is such an awesome and catchy song. I have been humming it ever since I saw the movie. Other good songs include The Weight and Angel Of The Morning. A shame however is that there aren't more songs than 10....

The "Girl, Interrupted" soundtrack is a really great new CD! Whether you're a fan of the (awesome)movie or haven't seen it yet, this is a really great audio cd. The tracks from the score of the movie are really good, as well as the other songs on it. Really good 60's-70's era songs, and most of them aren't the 60's-70's song on every other soundtrack of movie based on that time period. "Downtown" is especially great, as is "The Weight" (in my opinion). Also, Wilco makes a really great modern addition to this sountrack with the song "How to fight loneliness." All in all it's a really terrific CD (can I stress that enough?)! Buy it now!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's missing Something.., January 20, 2000

I ran out the day that this came into stores and even paid full price for it.. Over all the CD is pretty good..The Merrilee Rush track "Angel of the Morning" was my motivation for buying this and is by far my favorite. I was rather disappointed to find that two songs that appear in the commercial are not on the sound track. The Boo Radley's "There She Goes" and one other song which can be clearly heard in the trailer and the ads are missing from this. Other then that, this is a great album.

I saw this movie at the Hollywood galaxy in Los Angeles. The music came on and immediately gave me the chills. This was a very well thought out movie and soundtrack. Every song fit incredibly snug as the movie progressed. Never was there a time when I found myself feeling awkward from hearing out of place music.

A trick to this CD though, if you don't know, if you listen to this in your car, the Mychael Danna selections from track 11 to track 29 turn the volume up VERY loud (if you can stand it) the depth of the sound due to the Glass Orchestra that was used has an orchestral effect like you've probably not heard or ever been used to. The glass orchestra uses glass instruments, pieces of glass, bottles etc to attain the effect that is heard. The guitar work is flawless. Wilco's 'How to fight Lonliness' is a great introduction to people not familiar with their music.

If you're looking for great music or something new like Wilco and Mychael Danna, then this is for you. If you also in the mood to hear Them and Van Morrison do a Bob Dylan cover than you're also in luck. It's actually the finest rendition of the song ever done.

... Yonder stands your orphan with his gun, crying like a fire in the sun ... look out baby! ... the saints are coming through ... it's all over now, baby blue.

Well worth the money paid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep your eye on Mychael Danna!, February 20, 2000
This review is from: Girl Interrupted: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I saw the magnificent movie and knew by the first five minutes I had to purchase the accompanying soundtrack. Not for the 60s-era songs, but for the haunting score. This is some original stuff! Earlier this year, I saw the movie The Ice Storm. The score for that movie was great. But no cd containing the score was released. Girl Interrupted's score and The Ice Storm's score sounded exactly the same, for they were both composed by Mychael Danna. How happy I was when I learned G.I.'s score was on cd! I particularly love the use of the "Glass Orchestra" (an orchestra that composes music with shards of glass, crystal goblets, glass flutes, and harmonicas.) Although this score takes multiple listenings to truly love, it is a must-buy. By the way, I'm only 13 years old and a great fan of movie scores!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sucks you into the madness..., October 28, 2000

Listening to this music brought me back to the feelings I had when I saw the movie, which by the way I loved. Throughout this CD there is a great bittersweet atmosphere, a melancholic feel that stays with you for a while. The songs are amazing, they can be enjoyed even by the not-so-big fans of the genre. The instrumental part is even better, soft, desperate, with a touch of instrumental sounds that resemble broken toys in the background. The CD very successfully portrays the atmosphere of the movie. It won't cheep you up, even though "How to fight loneliness" and "Downtown" are quite positive songs. However, your addiction to this good music will keep resurfacing over and over again. Buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Disc, August 7, 2005

Girl, Interrupted is a great movie, and this soundtrack is a wonderful addition to my collection. The first half of the disk contains the popular songs that were used within the movie, and the second half -- the better half in my opinion -- contains instrumental music by Mychael Danna. Listening reminded me how powerful the music was to the picture, and how powerful the story was.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best soundtracks, August 4, 2000
This review is from: Girl Interrupted: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I am young, and when I saw Girl Interupted(which by the way is the best movie of all time) I had to see if the soundtrack was any good. Well it is. I loved all the tracks that went perfectly to the scenes. But the best two songs are Downtown with its catchy beat and End of the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Missing Song, June 28, 2004

First of all, through quite a bit of searching I discovered that the song that opens the movie is "bookends" by Simon & Garfunkel! It's unfortunate that this song never made it to the soundtrack but if we all search through our parents' music collections I'm sure we'll stumble across it at some point. Secondly-this was a fantastic soundtrack and I especially like the fact that they included the score which makes it a great value. Excellent buy.
