5.0 out of 5 stars An exotic aural experience, June 25, 2008
This review is from: Girl on a Motorcycle (Original Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
My God this has got to be one of my favorite OSTs of all time. It actually makes the film more watchable and certainly adds more depth to it. Can't believe how brilliant Les Reed is here (why didn't he compose more film scores???). The melodies and arrangements of the songs are simply beautiful. I like both the glorious, more upbeat themes as well as the more melancholic ones, especially the repeated themes of "Don't Ask Me". Highly recommended for fans of the 60's - 70's music.

3.0 out of 5 stars WOW! THEY RE-ISSUE EVERYTHING!, May 15, 2001
This review is from: Girl on a Motorcycle (Original Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
I bought this one for 29 cents on vinyl in 1974, and while I must admit I miss the title track and a love theme, there's not much else to recommend it. It's falls into the genre of British go-go orchestrated weirdness. The title track does feature some killer jazz organ and snappy brass, some memorable tempo alterations, but the rest is a lot of meandering strings and late 60s atmospherics, and something that sounds like grunts and groans from a rape scene(!) (Dunno, really, never saw the film).

It's a grab bag of stuff: dead-on Austin Powers, effects and techniques borrowed from Christopher Komeda's "Rosemary's Baby" of the same year, and traditional film scoring of that period. Oh yes, and some grunting and groaning. I'm sure Marianne Faithfull is blushing right now. It was fer first and last starring role.
