Book Description

August 1988
Her family had moved, and Alexis Leighton never dreamed it would be so difficult to make new friends. Back in her home town, Lexi had been constantly going out and doing things, but here no one seems to care about her at all.

Finally a date with the most sought-after guy in town! Lexi gets a big boost until she discovers how shallow and self-centered he is.

At Cedar River High there's the Hi-Five, a group of "in" girls which she'd love to join. But she discovers their standards don't include any with "imperfections," like a handicapped brother.

And yet she is so lonely maybe if they didn't find out until after they got to know her better-?

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

"There are too few Christian examples in our world today," says Judy Baer, author of the new Cedar River Daydreams Series. I want to offer young readers an alternative to good exciting reading with a Christian point of view.

Judy began to write professionally in l983; since then she has had numerous books published and was the recipient of the 1991 first place for juvenile fiction presented by the National Federation of Presswomen..

Judy Baer feels that the Cedar River Daydreams series is in many ways a dream come true for a writer. "Its a messy world we live in. Sometimes it is difficult to tie problems into neat packages and solve them by page two hundred. The Daydreams series will allow both author and reader to follow characters through their joys and disappointments, through their growth and maturation, through the teenage years. Any problem or situation that teenagers face may someday be a topic of a Daydreams novel.

Remembering vividly her own feelings and emotions as a teenager helps her develop stories that ring true to teens. Judy says,"If the characters in Daydreams can in some way act as role models or encourage readers to hold fast to the Christian faith, then I will have reached my goal. I want to create readable, enjoyable, uplifting and just plain fun books that will keep readers coming back for more."

5.0 out of 5 stars Ceder River Daydreams Series, January 30, 2000

This review is from: New Girl in Town (Cedar River Daydreams #1) (Paperback)
I have read all 28 of the series and I love them. They are all wonderful books that relate real life situations with the characters. They are so life like. These books are great for teenage christians, who want to know they're not alone, that other kids go through what they go through everyday. I would recommend these books to anyone who wants a good wholesome book to read.

When I first read a book in the series, I couldn't wait until I saw the next one. I think Judy Baer is a really good author and I recommend her books to anyone who might be struggling spiritually or who is just looking for a good Christian series. I love the books!! Once you read one, I guarantee that you won't be able to put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars I think this book was awesome!!, December 1, 1998

This review is from: New Girl in Town (Cedar River Daydreams #1) (Paperback)
My favorite character in this book is Jennifer because I like the way she handeled the sisuation with Karla and Dawn, even though it was with her best friend. My favorite part in the book is the suspence when Jennifer finds out that Dawn is smoking. This book starts out with a party that is being thrown for the new girl in town, Dawn which is Jennifer's cousin, who is a super model. Jennifer thinks Dawn will fit in good with the school and all her friends, but evedently not!!
