4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but don't bother if you bought her pregnancy book
This daily diary is hilarious; filled with all of Vicki Iovine's usual tongue-in-cheek, tell it like it is humor. She keeps it accurate, keeps it real, and keeps it between us Girlfriends.

However, it is the EXACT SAME MATERIAL as her Guide to Pregnancy book, so if you've bought the book, I wouldn't necessarily bother with the diary unless you really do plan to write...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just buy a regular notebook
I mainly talked about being nauseous for the first three months and then ended up tossing the book, how boring to read for my child. I recommend buying a regular plain pages journal and writing as you feel inspired instead.

This daily diary is hilarious; filled with all of Vicki Iovine's usual tongue-in-cheek, tell it like it is humor. She keeps it accurate, keeps it real, and keeps it between us Girlfriends.

However, it is the EXACT SAME MATERIAL as her Guide to Pregnancy book, so if you've bought the book, I wouldn't necessarily bother with the diary unless you really do plan to write in a DAILY diary during your pregnancy...Remember, an average pregnancy is 280 days long!

Save your dollars and buy the book instead. It's a lot more fun to read, and then you won't have the added guilt of looking at all those blank lines that you "meant to fill in" during those 280 days. By the time Junior arrives, you won't care a whit about your pregnancy journal anyway (nor will you usually want to relive the experience)!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully informative and funny book, March 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy Daily Diary (Paperback)
I LOVED this book. I had read all the " medical " type books and this provided a great humorous view on the pregnancy experience. It also gave me a realistic picture of what to expect in the delivery room. I purchase this book as a gift for all my pregnant friends to keep them laughing.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book that takes the mystery out of pregnancy., July 18, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy Daily Diary (Paperback)
I won't repeat the raves that the other reviewers have for the book, but simply expand on them. I too laughed out loud in most of the sections. But, more importantly, instead of giving the usual boo-scary information that pregnancy books share, the book answered my stranger concerns: is it normal to gag when I brush my teeth and why have I had a stuffy nose since conception. And, she gives some really sensible and friendly advice on what to wear while you're pregnant, why you shouldn't be afraid of the amnio, what you really need to buy for the baby at first and what you'll need at the hospital. The funniest and most honest chapter is Men and Pregnancy. My husband could be the poster boy for it. Don't buy it for medical info (there are plenty of other books for that), but, if you are pregnant, buy it and get some peace of mind

I loved this book. I thought it was great. It doesn't give medical advice if that is what you are looking for but it sure will make you laugh. I think it is a must have for every pregnant woman. It helps keep your spirits up. Also nice to have a place to jot down notes about your pregnancy. I will buy it for any of my friends that get pregnant.

5.0 out of 5 stars The truth shall set you free: Perfect for first-timers, August 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy Daily Diary (Paperback)
It is so refreshing to have honest answers to embarrassing questions. The book was humorous, and blatently honest about all the icky and scary aspects of pregnancy. It's good to know what to expect and know if you are "normal." Humor takes the edge off, and it's somewhat comforting to know what others have gone through. I've loaned the book out several times and everyone has loved it. It comforted friends through pregnancy, and helped me make up my mind not to get pregnant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative, surprising, and hysterically funny!, May 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy Daily Diary (Paperback)
Subtitled, "Everything Your Doctor Won't Tell You", this book provides a hilariously funny look at the surprising changes pregnancy brings. Informative, supportive, and above all, REAL. By the end of the book, you'll feel like you've been given great advice from your best friend - in fact you'll want Vicki Iovine to BE your best friend! A MUST read for all first time mothers-to-be (and a great choice for second, third, and fourth-time mothers).

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly entertaining break from usual technical baby books, April 19, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy Daily Diary (Paperback)
A highly entertaining book, and a welcome relief from the more usual technical baby books. It is not a one-source book, but a great supplement which even the father and friends will get a laugh out of. In fact, one non-pregnant friend borrowed it, read it cover to cover, and then bought copies for friends

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it in my 1st pregnancy, buying it again for my 2nd, November 22, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy Daily Diary (Paperback)
This is the pregnancy diary that was my faithful (and hip and fun) friend throughout my first pregnancy in 1998 -- it gave me tons of good information and tips, and was always a fun place to write down what was going on with me and my baby. I just found out this morning that I'm pregnant with Baby #2 (hooray!!) --- and I'm sitting right down to order another copy for this pregnancy. I highly recommend this book -- its light and humorous approach is a great antidote to all the unremittingly serious pregnancy books out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for first-time moms, December 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy Daily Diary (Paperback)
This is a great book that gives a realistic view of pregnancy. I do think that new moms should read clinical books for information but this is a book that should be read for more practical advice and humor. I enjoyed this book more than any of the other eight that I read.
