5.0 out of 5 stars Good basic overview to program design
I bought this book because I was interviewing for a program that I currently coach at and wanted to get some ideas about how to improve things. It gave me a lot of great ideas and helped me create ways to get more people involved in the process. I feel like there are things that will definitely help in the future and hopefully helps me land the job.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just plain awful
I found the information in this book to be poor and of very little use. Skip it. The Complete Guide to Girls' Basketball by Michael D. Mullaney is far superior.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a little confused ..., November 30, 2009
This review is from: Girls' Basketball: Building a Winning Program (Paperback)
I can understand not liking the book, but it's not the same kind of book as Mike Mullaney's. This book is aimed at high school coaches, and talks about what it takes to build a high school program. It does not include drills or plays nor does it talk much about practices. It's main focus is on what the components of a good high school program are, and how a new coach can try to achieve them.

"Just plain awful" is an opinion, and I'll counter with mine. The book may not be worth five stars, but it didn't seem like throatwarbler got the point of the book. Maybe he did, but comparing it to Mullaney's wasn't exactly accurate.

Last point: Throatwarblermangrove has posted one review on Amazon, the one that trashed my book. Odd ...
