About the Author

An award-winning speaker, Liz Curtis Higgs has addressed audiences from more than 1400 platforms around the world. She is the author of eighteen books, including Bad Girls of the Bible, Really Bad Girls of the Bible, and Mad Mary. Liz and her husband, Bill, live with their two children in Kentucky.

More About the Author

Imagine a heartwarming Bible study wrapped inside a beautiful gift book: that's The Women of Christmas. the latest release from Liz Curtis Higgs. Verse by verse, Liz unpacks the biblical stories of Elizabeth, Mary, and Anna, who each welcome the Christ child into the world in a marvelous and miraculous way.

Liz admits, "My goal is simple: to help women embrace the grace of God with joy and abandon!"

In her best-selling series of Bad Girls of the Bible books and videos, Liz breathes new life into ancient tales about the most infamous--and intriguing--women in scriptural history, from Jezebel to Mary Magdalene. Biblically sound and cutting-edge fresh, these popular titles have helped more than one million women around the world experience God's grace anew.

And, in The Girl's Still Got It, Liz offers a twenty-first century take on the book of Ruth, dishing out meat and milk, substance and style, in a highly readable, always entertaining, and deeply personal journey.

Liz's award-winning historical novels, which transport the stories of Rebekah, Leah, Rachel, Dinah, Ruth, and Naomi to eighteenth-century Scotland, also invite readers to view these familiar biblical characters in a new light.

According to Publishers Weekly, "Higgs is a stickler for period authenticity." To that end, Liz has traveled sixteen times to Scotland, the setting for her novels, and has filled her shelves with nearly one thousand resource books about Scottish history and culture.

Also a gifted professional speaker, Liz has presented more than 1,700 inspirational programs for audiences in all fifty United States and fourteen foreign countries. When the National Speakers Association honored her with the Council of Peers Award for Excellence, Liz became one of only 35 women in the world named to their CPAE-Speaker Hall of Fame.

On the personal side, Liz is married to Bill Higgs, Ph.D., who serves as Director of Operations for her speaking and writing office. Liz and Bill enjoy their old Kentucky home, a nineteenth-century farmhouse in Louisville, and are the proud (and relieved) parents of two college grads.

"I have three abiding passions: encouraging my sisters in Christ, exploring the stories of women in the Bible, and writing novels set in Scotland of old. When I'm not traveling, speaking, or spinning a story, I connect with readers online, take copious photos, read historical novels, watch period films, and immerse myself in research--the more books, the merrier. I'm a lame housekeeper, a marginal cook, and a mediocre gardener, but home is still my favorite place to land."

To get the most out of Bad Girls of the Bible you need to do the work book. I learned so much more from the workbook than the book. I recommend all women read the book and do the work book.

Our church circle group is just finishing this book. Most of the women thoroughly enjoyed the lessons. There were a few who found it a frustrating change from our "normal" types of lessons. We are almost ready to begin The Really Bad Girls of the Bible by the same author. These books are interesting and have a really (and sometimes fun) different take on the same old stories,

BAD GIRLS OF THE BIBLE- BOOK REVIEW

Bad Girls of the Bible
by Liz Curtis Higgs

Review

If you are anything like me, you have your favorite women and men in the Bible that truly inspire you to strive to become more faithful in your Christian walk. I know for myself, I wish I could give up my "Martha" of having to have everything just right, and become more like "Mary", learning to sit at the feet of Jesus.

Well did you know that there is just as much we can learn by looking at the lives of the "Bad Girls" of the Bible too? Liz Curtis Higgs does a splendid job of combining modern day stories of women, and then retelling verse by verse the biblical version of "Bad Girls" just so we can learn from them.

In the book, "Bad Girls of the Bible" you will be engaged with Eve right from the very beginning. This book is one you will not want to put down. You will learn whether these women were "Bad to the Bone," Bad for a Season, but Not Forever" or only "Bad for a Moment."

Liz says,"Women are physical, emotional, and spiritual in nature, and all three areas have their weak spots. In Eve's case, the serpent sank his fans into all three, by appealing to her physical appetite for food, her emotional appreciation of beauty, and her spiritual desire to be like God. Satan uses exactly the same tactics today. He's not creative in the least, just persistent. By identifying our weaknesses in all three areas, then arming ourselves with biblical defense methods, we can keep from experiencing our own daily (hourly!) reenactment of the Fall."

In Bad Girls of the Bible you will meet Eve, Potiphar's Wife, Lot's Wife, The Woman at the Well, Delilah, Sapphira, Rahab, Jezebel, Michal and The Sinful Woman.

Our womens group did this Bible Study and it's really great. We didn't use the workbook as the book itself has some great questions included at the end of each chapter... but I'm sure if you took the time to do the workbook you'd get even more out of it. Super good study for new-comers or old-timers!

Our Women's Study group has been using this very delightful and insightful book for the last month and we are delighted with Higgs' fresh approach to these "bad girls" whom we often overlook. To a person, we have laughed, cried, been shocked and amazed, and most importantly, been enlightened as we have studied. We are probably going to do the sequel, "Really Bad Girls" when we finish this one!

God's Grace & Mercy is available to whosoever will accept it. Great study for women who are aware of their past mistakes and are seeking a do-over. To see what type of women are recorded in the Bible who were either foolish or notorious, yet given the opportunity to do life over is a real eye-opener. I am currently using the study with this workbook with women who are incarcerated. It helps them to understand how wrong thinking got them where they were, what is the correct mode of thinking, God has not turned His back on them, and they still have a purpose to fulfill in life. The workbook has the kind of questions that provides soul searching and new tools to move forward.
