this is a very detailed book focusing more on fairy tidbits and special crafts, with a few chapters of a fairy story as well. beautifully illustrated and the crafts are fairly doable. the book inspired my 6 year old to host a summer solstice party for her friends, and the book has given us more than enough ideas! a very pretty, readable and re-readable book.

A lovely book, with many colorful pages. This book has more pages than I expected. If you like fairies this book you must have. Every page is colorful and enchanting. I got it used but it looked like new. I love this book because it reminds meof those lovely summer flowers. It also took me on a magical journey. I highly recommend it.

I bought this book for my 7 year old cousin for Christmas. She LOVED it so much. I always have been a fan of Cicely Mary Barker's illustrations. I kind of wish I had bought another to keep for myself. It has poems, songs, some arts and crafts ideas. She eventually had a Fairy Pool Birthday Party the following summer. She used the ideas from the book to create the theme of the party, including the invitations! I'm so proud of her!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book!, January 15, 2012

What a beautifully put together book. It's got a beautiful linen-type cover with gold edging on the pages. It looks so rich. The illustrations are fantastic. The background of all of the pages has an antiqued appearance that makes it seem so "authentic"-like. It explains the different types of fairies and is full of beautiful poems. My 7 year old daughter and I have only started to read it at bedtime and she's thoroughly enjoying it, as am I. This book is a keeper (it will not be donated to the Salvation Army!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book!, September 8, 2011

I absolutely love this beautiful book! This was given to my daughter as a gift and we both love it. The art is old fashioned looking and it is just fun overall. My daughter was three when she got it and I purchased it for my niece who was turning two. This is definitely not a little kid book, though little ones do enjoy looking at it. It is geared more towards 7+ years. And moms love it too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for any type of girl, April 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this book for my daughter for Easter. She loves fairies but I did not know what a bargain I actually received! There are all types of things for children to do. Crafts, games, little tidbits to read. The only thing is if your child is not into reading so much, this book might not be the book for them unless you are willing to help them out a bit. There is a lot of reading on every page. However, my daughter does not have the issue with this especially because there are vivid, detailed, colorful pictures on every page.
I encourage anyone looking for a great book to stir the imagination to get this one. It's wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book, December 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book was a gift for my grandmother, who loves fairies. Even though it's directed at young girls, I think she'll love all of the craft projects and ideas that this book has. It has features on what fairies use for hats, shoes, furniture, dishes, etc. The projects and "articles" are simple, innocent, and fun. The book is a beautiful, thick hardback with gold-edged pages and a burgundy ribbon inserted into the spine for use as a bookmark. The images inside are an assemblage of the artist's original art, with a wide variety to peruse. I could spend hours looking through it myself. One of the neatest things is the glossary in the back, which uses the artist's original rectangular artworks as icons.

I got this in combination with the Complete Book of Flower Fairies, which has large prints of the artist's original works. I think the two together make a nice set for fans of fairies.
