Most of the mixes are worth your while,

When I went out to get this CD I was kinda leery of a CD with six remixes of the same song. But each remix is like a whole new song. I'd stay FAR away from the 16 millimetre mix and keep my distance from the 8 millimetre mix, but the Tin Tin Out mix (very clubby/disco-ey!) and Salt Tank mix (again, very disco-ey) more than make up for the aforementioned mixes' shortcomings. Tall Paul is cool, and the Night Version is great for anyone who, unlike me, has yet to hear it.

To have or not...,

Girls On Film - The Remixes... If Duran Duran went with full techno and remixes, this is the CD to have. Best track is #1 (the Tin Tin Out Mix) for the background effects. #5 (Night Version) if you don't buy the `Essential Duran Duran' CD or the video album. The holdout CD until a `Planet Earth' CD comes out.

It could have been better,

The only version worth having is the Tin Tin... mix. The others, except track 5, sound almost the same. I think that it would be worth more if other types of music were sampled instead of this weird crap they used on the Millimeter mixes and the Salt tank mix. Tall Paul could be a wee bit shorter and actually have more singing on it. Nice try guys, don't be so lazy next time!

A revamped classic.,

There are only two mixes here of true value, the first being the Tin Tin Out remix; a killer version for the dance floor. The other mix, is obviously the original Night Version. All the others are decent, but personally the two I've mentioned are worth the cash for this cd. Definately a keeper for fans.

MUST BUY FOR ANY DD FAN,

I was actually about to shell out 10 bucks the other day to buy the Electric Barbarella Import Single just to get the GOF Tin Tin Out Mix. Lucky for me I held out and was able to get Oakenfold's mix and more for a lot less. All remixes are solid. The opening Paul Oakenfold mix is nice, the 8mm and 16mm mixes are both interesing, the Salt Mix is passable, nothing special. And any DD fan should already have the Night Version, which is also good. But the hands down winner is the Tall Paul Newman deep house mix. A solid dance/club tune that will get you moving. Far and away the best track on the album and on its own is worth the price of the CD.

Nice to have Remixes, but one would have done it.,

I'm thrilled that Duran Duran have released a new set of mixes! Track 2, The Salt Tank Mix, is a great track that actually uses original Duran Duran music (imagine that!) It's a cool mix. The rest of the mixes leave a little to be desired. Some drum and bass, but otherwise not that great. (the first picture sleeve featuring a BALD Warren!)

Tin Tin Out = Best Remix Ever,
This review is from: Girls on Film (Audio CD)
The Tin Tin Out remix is my all time favorite remix of any song, any time, any place. It knocked out my former contenders Depeche Mode's Enjoy The Silence Razormaid Remix; Amber's One More Night Berman Brothers "Ibiza" Dub; and Ultracynic's Nothing Is Forever Rapino Brothers RemixThe remix work is just phenomenal on the Tin Tin Out version. It has a deep bass that pounds out the famous Girls On Film melody, yet Simon's vocals are never overwhelmed. Put simply, the rest of the remixes on this CD suck. |
