It's not uncommon these days to hear about people going green, but what is out of the ordinary are the girls and young women profiled in the new book, Girls Gone Green. Author Lynn Hirshfield has put together a collection of stories that will inspire many to get involved in the movement to protect our environment. In these pages, we meet teens who are passionate about the cause, and are willing to put in long hours to enlighten and motivate others to become a voice for the planet. These young activists believe in the power they have to bring about change, and in a variety of ways, they all do their part. Many of the things these green girls are doing can be duplicated in our own neighborhoods in cities around the world. There are some great tips we can all learn from to be more eco friendly too! Girls Gone Green primarily focuses on the efforts of real green girls who are making a difference in their schools and communities, but we also hear from celebs like Alicia Silverston, Ellen Page and others who have gotten involved and share the details of their own journeys to raise awareness. This refreshing book is a terrific read for young and old, and if we are very lucky, it will be just the first in a series of stories meant to compel us all into taking action for the good of the world. Girls Gone Green and it's message of hope is one I highly recommend.
