What a great book! Full of photos and personal stories, "Girls Got Kicks" is about how girls and young women use sneakers and sneaker-style to express themselves. You may or may not know much about the world of "female sneaker fiends", but you will be amazed and inspired by the beautifully written stories of their lives. And check out the photographs(by California photographer Amanda Lopez)of proud young women and their sneakers! This is a great book for anyone - teen, parent, young, old, male, female, athlete, fan, hip-hop fashionista, or hoody and sweats couch potato - who is interested in how people (particularly young women) express themselves through their style. Don't miss it!
When I opened the first page of Lori Lobenstine's Girls got Kicks, I felt like I was in a full immersion program in a foreign country, and I loved it! Whether a sneakerfiend or tomboy or both, it's comforting to know there are so many others who take their sports, their tough attitudes, their kicks seriously. The design of Girls Got Kicks is breathtaking, from the stunning still and action portraits of female sneakerfiends to the bright and bubbly retro `80s font. I love it.
