Jaqueleine Wilson is fantastic. There's never been any question about that in my mind. And I'd also like to note that I'm a staunch believer in children's books not being censored. However, even my liberal mind was a little surprised. Most of the books scenes are fine and what I would expect from this excellent author. A parents death, irritating siblings, worries about the opposite sex are what I would expect for girls aged thirteen (the ages of the three heroines) But a couple of places in the book did surprise me somewhat. When one of the girls, Nadine, meets Liam, all three thirteen yea olds go to a nightclub where they are offered drugs (E's and whizz, in Magda's words) and Nadine even takes some "to relax her" to enable her to sleep with Liam (she doesn't.) I fully realise that, sadly, this is a world many thirteen year olds live in, but by writing about it this implies that it is normal. I do think if Wilson's heroines had been, say, sixteen, I would have been far more happy with it. Had I read this book at thirteen, I do wonder if I would have belived clubbing, sex, drugs and parties to be the morn in my age group. Hopefully not. But possibly some thirteen year old somewhere, might. The main reason WIlson's books are applauded is that they are realistic. I would reccomend any parent giving this book to a child to chat with them first and assure them that what the girls in the story do is not by any means what their peers do.

These scenes aside then, this book is excellent. The girls are realistic and strangely likeable. All in all it is a good story but unlike many of Wilson's other books, that is all it is. I did not pick up on any undercurrents of concern here. Give it t your child by all means and read it yourself - just be prepared for "But in this book.." comments!

I was really disappointed in this book. I had read the first three in the series and thought they were pretty good, but this one was awful. Ellie's boyfriend is a creep who steals her ideas, monopolizes her time, makes fun of her friends, and tries to take advantage of her and yet she still stays with him? What kind of message is this book sending to young girls- that it is okay to let your boyfriends control you if you really love them? I do NOT recommend this book!

One of 4 series of Jacqueline Wilsons faboulous teen books, Girls in Tears is a really realistic teen book. Reading this book made me forget all about my troubles and made me think how lucky I was knowing that they where having the worse luck in the world. Magda, Ellie and Nadine are back but they are not very happy. Ellie's magical Romance with Russel is looking very wobbly and Magda has suffered the loss of her precios little hamster. Everything is going wrong for the girls but can there friendship stay together through this tough time read this marvelous book to find out.

Girls in Love is an awesome introduction into the world of these three characters. Ellie, Magda and Nadine. They are all freshmans in highschool, and all...dateless. Until one day, Nadine confesses to having a boyfriend. Ellie (main character) starts a lie that goes way to far. Farther than she wanted it to go. She didn't want to seem like an out cast. How far did it go? And did Ellie confess it was all a lie? Read this book to find out! I recomend this book because it tells about true love, and how you shouldn't have low-self esteem. One of the characters gets used by an older boy and doesn't realize it until the end...when her friends come to the rescue!

Ellie,Nadine and Madga are all best friends.Ellie is chubby and funny. Nadine is pretty and sensible and Magda is glamorous and sexy. They are a funny trio and when Nadine and Magda have both got boyfriends Ellie gets jealous.She lies about having a boyfriend and gets in a muddle.Magdas boyfriend turns out to be selfish and immature and Nadines boyfriend turns out to be a bad boy. This book can be funny, crazy and sad all at the same time and will cheer you up if you're feeling down Age group- 10-15yrs

This book is absolutly fantastic! It perfectly describes the life of a teenage girl called Ellie, who thinks she is the fattest girl in the world. Her two equally best friends, Nadine and Magda, are always there for her(apart from when Magda has boys all over her!) to help her out and are always being sisterly. When she goes on holiday she thinks that its going to be the wettest, darkest time of all, but when she meets Dan things start to look up. When you have finished reading this one, try "Girls under pressure", it's even better than the first!

When I finished this lovely book, I was in tears like the name of the book because Ellie's experiences are nearly like my experiences especially friends and family. I could feel as same as Ellie felt. I was happy when she was and I was in sorrow when she cried. This book can present about teenagers' life. I think Jacqueline Wilson has good understanding about teenagers' natures. In addition, she still maintained her attractive style of writing her books. I like the way that she began in each chapter with "Girls cry when..." because it relates with the name of the book. Everyone who likes Jacqueline Wilson's books should not miss `Girls in Tears', so "READ IT!" :)

I'll type in the blurb so you get an exact description of the book: Ellie's glorious romancs with Russell is teetering on the rocks. Magda's lost her pet and is desperately upset (though the others didn't even know she still had a hamster!). And Nadine is fed up with the other two lecturing her about meeting someone on the internet-she thinks an e-mail boyfriend is wonderful!

Buckets of tears are wept and hundreds of tissues are sniffled into. Can the girls' friendship survive these testing times?

I personally love this book, I love all of Jacqueline Wilsons books. It really relates to teenage girls, it's almost as if she has the mind of a teenager. I've read this book twice. I've done the same with girls out late, girls under pressure, girls in love, the lottie project, suitcase kid, the dare game&the story of tracy beaker. I also love watching the tv series Tracy Beaker. It's great. Jacqueline Wilson is my favourite author, and I'm sure if you start reading her great books she'll be yours too!

Ellie is thirteen, with all sorts of teenage problems. She isn't happy with the way she looks, she has an annoying little brother and, most important of all, she doesn't have a boyfriend.

To make things even worse, when she returns to school after summer vacation, one of her best friends has a new boyfriend--an older boy who keeps pressuring her to make their relationship more physical. Ellie's other best friend is gorgeous and can get any guy she wants with hardly any effort. Ellie's only prospect is the nerdy younger guy she met on vacation, who has been writing her letters. Could Ellie make her friends believe that this boy is her great romance?

I liked much of this book. The problems the girls face are realistic and handled with care and understanding. Mixed in among the silly problems of irritating teachers and choosing just the right outfit are real problems, like Nadine being pressured for sex.

I found Ellie a bit annoying, though, especially her constant fixation on her weight.

I enjoyed this book a lot! I like this book, and the other books in the series, because they have real life situations in them but they all have a little bit of a twist, which makes them more interesting!

At the beginning of this book Ellie, the main character, is getting really excited over a ring her boyfriend, Russel , gave her. Later on in the book she goes to a party with Russel and her best friends, Magda and Nadine, and the party has alcohol and they all start drinking. A while after this Ellie ends up getting sick and goes up to one of the bedrooms to lie down. When she gets up to leave she walks down the stairs, but can't get through because two people are making out at the bottom of the stairs, and the two are her boyfriend and her best friend Magda!!!!! But to find out what happens next READ IT!!!!

Jacqueline Wilson is a great author! I love this series and have read 2 others, Girls Under Pressure and Girls in Love, and am currently reading Girls Out Late!!! I loved them all!!! = )
