Powerful, Profound, Pleasing, Poetic!!,

I couldn't put this newest book of Mary Swander's down until I had devoured it completely! This lush and lyrical narrative washed over me like the flood that engulfs this tiny town of Pompeii (that's pronounced "pom pee".) As the rising waters of the mighty Mississipi River submerge the village, it's colorful inhabitants spin tales of love, lust, revenge, and redemption. If you thought that Swander's "Driving the Body Back" was powerful, just wait until you sink your teeth into "Girls on the Roof"!
