lotsa fun..., December 21, 2007
This review is from: Girls & Weather (Audio CD)
This album is lotsa fun. The performances are so exuberant they very nearly left me breathless. This group has a wonderfully soulful take on brit-rock. It's odd to hear this stripped down approach ,achieved without PRO-TOOLS I'm guessing, produce something so rousing. It makes me realize just how badly wrong other groups do get this sound.

Nice rocking CD, February 27, 2009
I love the raw feeling of this CD. They have a great opinion of what rock and roll is and should sound like, and pull it off very well. Their sound is less refined than most mainstream music, and the imperfections are what make it so great.
"Cowboy" is a must listen!

Finally . . . a good British band with a terrible name, May 9, 2008
This review is from: Girls & Weather (Audio CD)
Okay, with a name like The Rumble Strips I was thinking these guys were a po dunk local band that have a cousin who's a recording exec.
But outside of their silly name, these Brits are, in fact, far from a joke. They have great energy, and probably the most unique arrangement of songs I've ever heard from a Brit-pop band since the Beatles. They remind me of The Matches vocally, and the song writing bats near The Yellow Submarine-era Beatles.
Their intrumentation may come across as hokey the first listen, but all the songs (save Motorcycle, which is as close to a dud as the Strips come) have polished melodies and soul, and show little wear, even after many listens. Very, very close to 5 stars, but that stupid Motorcycle song is a thorn in their flesh.
They also have a song on Run, Fat Boy, Run. Which is a good movie, though not Pegg's best showing.
