5.0 out of 5 stars Girltalk from someone who really knows
I first read Girltalk in middle school and I remember how reassuring so much of Weston's advice was on issues such as body image and relating to boys, and how informative the sections were on how to deal with long-distance friendships or the first whispers floating around school about alcohol and drugs. Now a sophomore in college, I recently paged through the book and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
Along the wave of girl books that got started with the Queen Bee and Wannabes book, but contains some good tips similar to Girl's Guide to Loving Yourself.

I first read Girltalk in middle school and I remember how reassuring so much of Weston's advice was on issues such as body image and relating to boys, and how informative the sections were on how to deal with long-distance friendships or the first whispers floating around school about alcohol and drugs. Now a sophomore in college, I recently paged through the book and was struck by how true (and, in fact, relevant) the advice still was. Girltalk mixes real letters from readers and answers to them, with Weston's own memories, research, and comforting advice, all of which makes this book ideal for girls of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars I WISH I'D HAD THIS BOOK, April 25, 2005
This review is from: Girltalk Fourth Edition: All the Stuff Your Sister Never Told You (Paperback)
This is one of those books that can absolutely change a girl's life. Girltalk can help a girl make smart decisions and feel good about who she is. It covers really complicated subjects in such a friendly comfortable way, that it's just amazing. I'll be giving my daughters copies because both my nieces are huge fans of this book and of the author's advice column in GL magazine.

5.0 out of 5 stars The one book a girl these days MUST have!, August 10, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Girltalk Fourth Edition: All the Stuff Your Sister Never Told You (Paperback)
This is the real thing...wise, clear, brutally honest and sincere. Carol Weston understand the joys and challenges of growing up female, being in limbo between girlhood and womanhood and being pulled in different directions between the strong voices of peers, parents and the often too quiet voice of true self. This is a book my eleven year old daughter has sunk her teeth into, and it will serve her in a way that no corny "Chicken Soup for the..." will. Growing up isn't always neat and tidy, and sex, divorce, boys, etc. are topics that girls need to think about. Carol Weston can reach them like no other writer I know. Beautifully written, moving and genuine, this book takes hold in a way that a squeamish birds and the bees talk is unable to.Our girls need to know this stuff, and parents, you do too!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for every teen girl--and her mother, January 24, 2006

This review is from: Girltalk Fourth Edition: All the Stuff Your Sister Never Told You (Paperback)
Carol Weston's savvy, witty, no-nonsense guide answers all the questions girls ask, the ones they're afraid to ask, and even the ones they don't yet know they have. But before moms pass on this book to their daughters, they should read it themselves. Armed with vital information and reassuring wisdom, it will be that much less stressful to navigate the teen world today. I only wish I knew about Girltalk when my own daughter was a teen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for all pre-teens!, January 11, 2007
I bought this book for my 12 year old daughter. She loves it and I highly recommend this book as a mom. It's good straight forward book that answers simple questions and gives no nonsense factual advice. I bought it as an ice-breaker. She can read the book and get answers to questions she's to shy to ask me but gives more knowledge than her friends can! This book is not too sexually graphic as well.

I just read this book and I TOTALLY feel like Carol Weston is my personal friend! Or my sister like the title says....lol!!!

Seriously, Girltalk has the perfect answers for questions about friends, guys, parents, etc. You feel like you are having a conversation, not being lectured at.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS BOOK!!, August 6, 2004
This review is from: Girltalk Fourth Edition: All the Stuff Your Sister Never Told You (Paperback)
I was so glad to buy this new edition of GIRLTALK because to tell you the truth, my old copy was falling apart because I've read it so many times. Plus the new edition has new websites and lots of new info and letters from girls too. The reason why GIRLTALK is one of my favorite books (I recommend it to everybody!) is because it covers every question I have ever thought of. I used to read it to find about friendship stuff, and today I was actually looking at the chapter about tips for taking the SATs and SAT IIs. You'll love it!!!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this for my stepdaughter who is about to start high school. We have had many of these conversations but I also wanted her to hear another person's advice. I read most of this before giving it to her, it is complete, open and not written in a preachy way. My stepdaughter really got into it.
