5.0 out of 5 stars A Necessity for All Girls!
I read this book's first edition as a 29 year old adult, and even I gathered some great advice from it, on handling friendships to all sorts of general life issues, as well as female-specific topics. I have a daughter, and I believe this book will be an indispensible guide for her to reference when she doesn't feel comfortable speaking to someone about questions she...

1.0 out of 5 stars Stop talking
Everyone is always raving about how great this book is. All it did was make me feel uneasy and awkward. I definitly don't think 11 year olds should be reading this book. Letters from real people are published in this book about girls being raped, molested, attacked, etc. Of course, when I was 11 and if I read this book I'd be traumatized. I suppose it all depends on your...

The author's advice is solid and not condescending. She writes in a very personable and trusting manner, and the book is enjoyable to read. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a bible for teenage girls!!, March 11, 1999
By A Customer
I first received GIRLTALK when I was 13. Throughout my teen years, I would periodically consult it whenever I had a question or concern that I was unable to talk to my mom about. Unlike other books written for teenagers, this one is not preachy or condescending. I strongly recommend it for all young women who are coming of age.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great author, timeless book, September 22, 1999
By A Customer
I bet I am the oldest reviewer to post, at just three months shy of 26 -- I have a copy of GirlTalk that is at least 12 or 15 years old. I believe it is a first edition. My mom bought it for me when I was a pre-teen and it was my bible, my source of comfort, the one thing that helped me believe I wasn't completely alone when I was an angst-ridden teen. Parents and teens alike will benefit from owning a copy of GirlTalk.

5.0 out of 5 stars EUREKA! I'VE GOT IT!!, June 1, 2001
to put it simply, i love this book. i received it as a gift from my sister the christmas after my 11th birthday. about two months later when i got around to reading it, WOW! i was amazed at how great this book was. carol has a way with words that makes you want to listen. i like how she doesn't pretend that a teenager won't have sex,it shows she has an ounce (more like a gallon) of sense about her. she doesn't beat around the bush, she tells it like it is in a warm and comforting way. it helped me understand what was happening to my body, and accept it. because of this book, i have gone from an unhappy and chubby adolecent to a girl who is growing confidence, loosing weight, and learning some of the many questions i had about sex and other things. it is REALLY my bible in every way, and i think that anyone age 10 to age 19 absolutely MUST own this book. you just might wonder how you ever got along without it. i love it so much, i'm considering buying a new copy to replace my very worn one! so, get this book! you won't regrete it

5.0 out of 5 stars this is a great book!, April 17, 1999
By A Customer
This is a great book. Carol Weston uses her own experiences and helpful phrases to help you understand everything. This book includes tips on hygene, romance, puberty, school, friends, family, and just about everything! If you are interested in any of those items I strongly suggest that you get this book. I read this book 3 times and strongly suggested it to all my friends. It has helpful ideas, like I said, and other girls' opinions and questions on the material in the book. Get this book, I loved it, and so will you!

5.0 out of 5 stars all that and a bag of DORITOS!!!, February 6, 1999
By A Customer
OH MY GOSH! I read this I think when I was 11 (14 now), and it was heaven. I even wrote a personal letter to carol and she answered it herself. It gave me answers about periods, sex, making money, college, your body: all the stuff gals my age were a little queezy about when it came to asking the 'rents. I recommend it to ANY girl out there who wants some serious, down-to-earth answers.

This is a wonderful, wonderful book for teenage girls. From a 12 year old in 6th grade to a girl in college, this book is a must-have. Dealing with issues such as puberty, friends, family, and learning to accept yourself, any girl would be glad of this book on their shelves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good information. . . ?, April 5, 2000
By A Customer
This book has a lot of useful information to girls ages eleven to eighteen, but some subjects may be a bit advanced for some. There's safe facts about drugs and a helpful quiz to help you get the information about smoking cigarettes. But there's a section in BODY that has information about inserting tampons and things of such sort. This may be advanced fro some, but overall this book is helpful, informative, and very useful if you need to know the facts that some girls aren't so sure about. I give it thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a review of Girltalk by Carol Weston, January 20, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Girltalk: All the Stuff Your Sister Never Told You (Paperback)
I'm a 12 year old girl, and I loved the book Girltalk by Carol Weston. Girltalk really makes sense to teenage girls. It talks about everything: sex, drugs, money, families, and more. At the end of every chapter, there's a letter section, where Carol answers girls' letters and gives them advice. Girltalk isn't a really nerdy book the way some teenage advice books are. It doesn't tell you to do stuff nobody who's actually a teenager would ever do, and it's written in an upbeat, interesting way. It's funny a lot of times. If you're a teenager, reading this book will make you feel normal. I think the best part is that Carol Weston includes little bits from her diaries when she was a teenager, and it's cool to see what she wrote. There's not really a worst part of this book, except that sometimes it gives advice that's a little too old lady-ish. Mostly, though, I loved this book!
