4.0 out of 5 stars Makes great nut butter
This machine works extremely well in turning various nut mixtures into a creamy or crunchy nut butter. I wanted to be able to blend almonds, dry roasted peanuts and cashews, with a hint of pistachios for our own use. I had a salton peanut butter maker 30 years ago, but it required me to chop nuts before I could put them in the little fragile machine. The girmi doesn't...

This unit working OK, the blade is terrible its rust after 1 month, and broke after 2 month. It stills under warranty but I can find the company or replacement anywhere in web.

The girmi doesn't require any resizing of the nuts. I makes a fine grind that needs to be knocked down, and then reblended into the butter of whatever texture you want. It makes up to a cup at a time depending on how much you want to use. I haven't used it for anything else yet but will as soon as I find a need for it.

The only reason I don't give a 5 star rating is the size is a little large but I think that's because of the 500 watt motor, and lack of replacement parts (such as the blade attachment). I ran my girmi without the blade all the way down and it wore down the plastic top button. I would have either liked a warning that the blade wasn't all the way down or if it had lifted because a nut got under the blade I would have liked it to stop working. It still works fine, but I think that may shorten the life of the blade attachment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what I wanted it to do..., May 17, 2007

I bought this because I was burning up my blender and food processor making my own cashew butter. I am allergic to peanuts and the commercially made cashew butter just is not that good. In order to make it in the blender I have to add a lot of oil, which I would prefer not to do. I was amazed at how quickly this turned cashews almost into cashew butter. I did need to add a tiny bit of oil to get the proper consistancy. The Girmi TR30 was not strained in the least and the job was done in 1/10th the time it had been taking me in the blender. My only complaint is the lid does not allow you to add liquid while you are using it and it seems a little hard to clean. But nut butter is hard to clean off anything. The dishwasher would probably not have any problems, I just chose to wash it by hand that day.

Use it for making fresh Peanut butter. Just chop peanuts, keep pressing them down with spatula, then continue chopping until creamy peanut butter is made. I use unsalted, dry roasted peanuts.

I was very impressed with Girmi TR30. It does exactly what it's supposed to do without taking up too much storage space. I'll recommend this to my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and Easy!, September 3, 2010

I'm very happy with this product. It's powerful and easy to use. I bought it to make fresh almond butter, which I don't think it makes well. So I don't use it for making nut butters and I don't recommend it for that. But I do think it's a fine product. Good for small projects for one or two servings.

This is the best chopper I've ever seen. It has more horse power than most Stand Mixers and Food processors. I have had mine for 2 years - Never rust or a problem. I use it for almost everthing. Easy clean-up too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Girmi TR30, November 9, 2007

This all started a few months ago. I purchased a Magic Bullet. After like two uses O ring broke on blender and chopper very soon after. After that it leaked without seal when using liquids. Not good. Gave it away.
Next bought a cheap blender from Target. If I put more than 1 cup of tomato sauce or liquids it leaked through center opening post. Returned it to target.
Then I purchased this Girmi. This thing is powerful. Did a good job however if I added more than a cup of liquid it came out through center opening post down to rotator. and when I tried to pour a thick mixture into a small opening it was difficult. Easy to clean. I will be giving it away soon.
Then I purchased Hamilton Beach 80384 Deluxe. This does a great job as did Girmi at chopping Ceylon cinnamon sticks except same problem if you start using liquid or more than a cup it squirts out from top around stainless bowl and out. not good.
I tried using some cat food lids to cover stainless bowl and then using a paper clip, push activator switch in real of unit. Not good. Liquid comes out. Then found a cat/dog food lid at Petmart. You can see it at [...] it is one with like two recess edges and slit in top. It fits perfectly into top of Stainless bowl then using plastic outside cover of HB 80384 it fits into recess in top of plastic lid giving a greater seal. However you still have to use a paper clip to activate switch at rear. A little annoying so decided I needed a larger bowel and more sealing and chopping but not much more than a cup
Point of all this I am trying to mix Ceylon Cinnamon sticks with powdered Cocoa and Water or tomato sauce and spices with flax seed. Blenders will not chop up flax seed or Ceylon Cinnamon small enough. I do have a blender however it is too much trouble to first chop sticks in chopper and then transfer results to a blender for final blend. I'll be giving this one away too if Black & decker EHC650 works.
Now I purchased a Black & Decker EHC650 Ergo 3-Cup from Amazon. It should arrive tomorrow. Cup size is more than 1 which is good and less than 8 which is good. I sure hope it does Ceylon Cinnamon sticks than adding powdered Cocoa and water to produce a finish result in one bowl.
Black & Decker EHC 650 is totally useless at flax seed or Ceylon Cinnamon sticks. Bottom of motor as it faces plastic bowl gets splash up from swirling tomato sauce or Cocoa mix I mix up and you can't just put it under faucet to clean.
It appears to be easier to first chop flax or Cinnamon Sticks using Hamilton Beach 80384 then toss results into a cheaper Hamitlon Beach basic blender with plastic cup and lid for final processing.
Someone needs to come up with a good Chopper/blender that will do more than a cup and less than a pint and be liquid tight.
