These are great gloves from the fit, the feel, the build quality, everything is great.

I've used it a couple of times but the palms looks like I've been used it for a year, there are some parts of the glove that are starting to fall apart.

First of all I saw the wear and tear after only about a month of using them on my rides.

The Xen is basically the Bravo with full fingers. The fit and features are identical to the Bravo. Fit is true to size.

The material is thin. Padding is present, but thin. The padding along the bottom of the hand is placed well. This would not be a good AM/DH glove if you crash a lot, but it is good for XC.

Living in the south, we have a lot of humidity in the summer. This glove quickly soaks through. This can cause some friction and irritation at the base of my fingers. All of my gloves do this to some extent in the summer.

The supposedly smartphone friendly index finger doesn't work any worse or better with a smartphone than the Specialized gloves I have (without a special fingertip). Ungloved, dry fingertips work best.

For the price, this is a decent glove, and I recommend it.

UPDATE: Shortly after I wrote the review above, the velcro closure failed. The velcro is on the wrist side of the glove, so it is constantly soaked with sweat. My other Giro and Specialized gloves do not have this problem.

I want to love these gloves, but they are tearing apart after on 20 miles of riding.

I'd also comment that they are super hot. I sweat through them generally after 3 miles of riding.

** Update **

These gloves bit the dust today, less than 200 miles on them and they are totally useless. The stitching has all busted and the palms are simply warn through. Also, a few days ago I wrecked hard with these gloves and they provided zero protection whatsoever to the point where I now have a 2 inch gash in my palm that required derma bond and actual medical attention.

I don't blame the injury on the glove, but I knew they were warn through when I went on my last ride and would provide no protection - I was right.

I was strongly recommend another pair of gloves, which is sad, because they look like they should have been great!

Hope this helps!
Brian

I wouldn't buy these again.. As a long term fan of Giro I clearly expected more. First of all I saw the wear and tear after only about a month of using them on my rides. The rubberized part on the fingertips comes off quite fast and the quality is just overall rather questionable (from a brand which probably makes the best helmets on the marker??).. The most annoying thing is that little velcro strip that is suppose to close the glove around your wrists - it is just too short. It will open all the time, no matter how or where u try to attach it.. A few tweaks and that glove could be quite alright, but as it stands, I wouldn't buy that again...

I left these sitting on the roof of my car again and am purchasing my third pair. I love the lightweight feel. They breath great, fit great, and give you a really nice feel on the bike. The padding placement isn't designed to help with handle bar vibration, but there is more padding toward the lower inside part of my palm. I crashed bare handed one day after losing these the first time, and turns out the damage was all done under where the padding would have been.

Pros:
- Great feel of the bike
- Protection for minor Crashes, minor handlebar irritation
- Lightweight and breathable

Not for you:
- If you're looking for something to absorb handle bar vibration
- If you have serious crash potential (Downhill or what not)

Cons: The rubber paneling on the back of the hand has a tendency to start peeling off, but I haven't had any issues on the functional parts of the glove. I haven't managed to keep the same pair for more than a season or two, but a few reviews have mentioned they fall apart. I suspect this may partly be a result of them running a small so fitting to tight and stressing the material. So if in doubt order up. Also, they are a light weight glove that you shouldn't expect to last as long as something heavier, but I am willing to trade that for the excellent fit and feel of these gloves.

Size reference: I'm a guy who doesn't have big hands, but not super small either, so I debate between medium and large gloves. Went with large. Definition of "fits like a glove." I also just measured and Amazon's size chart says I should order a medium, (I measure 8.5" around my knuckles) so safe to say that these run a size small.

About my riding habits: Consider me on the casual end of serious mountain bikers.

These gloves are great!! I had an older pair of Giro that were wore down and decided to stick with Giro again after I tried a pair of Fox gloves. The Fox gloves are to thin on the top portion the fingers and offer little to no protection for that glove. These Giro's are lighter gloves and I was worried about that at first. I ride a single track trail in the SW and riding through heavy brush on a small portion of the trail. You need as much protection as possible. These gloves offer the protection and style I was looking for. And the best part of it I can use my smartphone while wearing them.

I did not buy these on Amazon, but at a LBS, but thought this was a good forum to communicate problems since Giro does not have a comment/rating system on their site. The gloves fit the best I have ever had, and I have tried a lot of gloves. I like where the padding is located. I also like that there is no padding on the palm. Will not buy a mountain glove with palm padding... the Problem is the velcro.... I have had the velcro fail on 3 of the 4 gloves that I have (2 rights and a left)... I liked the rest of the glove so well that I went to the trouble to replace the velcro on the glove (not the strap)... It seems that they use a softer velcro that is less likely to snag and damage lycra, but it unfortunately does not function as intended... Hopefully Giro will fix this problem
