Tight, Flimsy, but Fast!,

Sizing runs a little small, making it hard to put on. Likewise, since tight going on, it's hard on the ears. The flaps are very weak at the front, tore one side about 1/4" only the 2nd time I put it on. Maybe Giro beefed this area up on the 2009 model? Once on, very comfortable and venting was good on a hot 96 degree day. Did NOT find it restricted hearing. Actually quieter due to less wind noise since this helmet definitely helps your noggin slip through the air!

Have to agree with the review by Sparty...Just bot this and apparently Giro has not improved the ear covers. The helmet is out of one piece of formed foam, but the ear covers appear to be separate pieces affixed with the skin of the helmet over them. So when you attempt to put the helmet on they flex a lot, and look like they could easily rip...It would be quite easy for the company to reinforce them @ the front to prevent this and still allow them to flex but not to rip, but it does not appear so. I did order the large size and am glad I did. My head measures 59cm and the lg size is for 59-63cm. I'm glad my head isn't larger as it's hard enough to get the helmet on, but comfortable once on. Yes there is still good hearing, but the ear covers act somewhat like cuping your hands behind your ears...A car approaching from the rear sounds louder and like it's about to run up your backside. Also like soooooo many products, it's Made In China, yet still @ over $150...Bet it costs Giro a fraction of that to make them...However, the helmet gets the job done, and does look cool.

After quite a bit of research, my wife and I bought this helmet for the second half of our triathlon season this year. As pointed out in another review, it takes some practice to get on and off, but now we are both very fast in our transition and you can hear the helmet slicing through the wind. Fit and comfort have been very good for us both. Bear in mind, aero helmets are only an advantage if you keep your head up and looking forward while in the aero position on your tri bike. If you tend to rest on straight stretches of road by looking down at your front wheel to allow your neck muscles a break, then you may want to stay with a traditional road helmet as an aero helmet would have you sticking the back end up into the air actually creating a Giro DISadvantage 2 helmet. If that's the case, you may want to look at Lazer's new aero helmet as they have done some things to make both positions more aero, but I've only seen the marketing, I haven't had any experiences with it.

I've already raced with this helmet in several triathlons, and it's been excellent. Fits just right and the padding is comfortable. I'm excited to use it for my upcoming 1/2 and Full Ironman races. Thanks, Giro!

i am an amateur cyclist. i ride 30 miles about 3-4 times a week. i dont see too many people wearing a aerodynamic helmet probably because you dont need it. i certainly dont feel the effect. its supposed to save a mile for every hour riding, and obviously you would have to ride at a certain speed. the savings isnt too much like i said, but you look cool. it hugs my big head nicely and very comfortable. and in my opinion, it doesnt get hot at all. the holes in the front keep my head cooled and happy.
