Product Description

Product Description

This lightweight, durable skate-style ski/snowboard helmet permits temperature to be adjusted inside while on the slope with a slide on the outside providing three settings to regulate air flow through the helmet's 14 vents. The helmet's in-mold construction a tough polycarbonate outer shell fused to an EPS (expanded polystyrene) liner reinforces both materials, allowing for larger vents and less material and resulting in a light, cool helmet. Removable, injection-molded earflaps lock directly into the liner, which can be removed for washing. A wide-angle cut creates a gapless fit with goggles and doesn't compromise peripheral vision. A security loop and Giro's Goggle Notch lock goggles to helmet.

The helmet comes in extra-small, small, medium, large, and extra-large sizes. Depending on size, it weighs approximately 14.5 ounces. An extra-small helmet fits a head with a circumference of 20.5 inches to 21 inches. A small helmet fits a head with a circumference of 21 inches to 22 inches. A medium helmet fits a head with a circumference of 22 inches to 22.5 inches. A large helmet fits a head with a circumference of 22.5 inches to 23.25 inches. An extra-large helmet fits a head with a circumference of 23.25 inches to 23.75 inches.

About Giro
Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, and the result was the Giro Prolight, a helmet that was better looking than traditional designs while offering a superior fit and still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, Giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world. Young-bloods and old-timers; hard-cores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular Joes too--in fact, pretty much anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet.

2.0 out of 5 stars MD reviews the G10 after a fall, February 3, 2009

probably the best review of a helmet would come from someone who was wearing it during a hard fall, especially if that person is both an ER doctor and snowboarder. i think that despite it's attractive looks the G10 may not be the best helmet for snowboarders, who seem more likely to take a backward fall than skiers. i myself suffered a pretty serious concussion after catching my back edge while riding some flats at average speed--a routine fall i would say. while i probably would have sustained a more serious injury without the helmet, i think the straps are too far forward to most effectively protect you during a backward fall. the helmet seems to slide forward onto your forehead, leaving the back of your skull more vulnerable. its good points--the helmet is certainly looks good and keeps your head warm. if you do purchase the G10--or any helmet for that matter--be sure to adjust the straps as snugly as possible. i personally will be searching for a helmet that better protects the back of my head.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fitting helmet!, December 22, 2008

This review is from: Giro G10 Snow Helmet (Sports)
I bought this helmet last year, so have gotten several weeks of skiing with it already. It not only fits great, but keeps my head warm...not sure why I was so resistant to the idea of wearing one for so long! There's a snap in the back, to keep the goggles from falling off, which is great. The adjustable vent is a nice feature for cooling down during warmer days (or harder runs) and for staying warm on chair lifts. Using a lycra helmet "hat" under it helps keep the face warm & the helmet fitting more snugly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved My Skull., December 4, 2008

This review is from: Giro G10 Snow Helmet (Sports)
This is my 3rd ski helmet and so far the best. I originally bought this helmet for how it fit my head and and goggles (A-Frames) and was very impressed with how it preformed in the cold. It is warm and the adjustable vents do help control the airflow. For my head it is a perfect fit.

Where this helmet really preforms is in protection though. I ski hard and occasionally fall hard. Recently though I took a hard spill while wearing this helmet and still got knocked out. The helmet is dented slightly, but still absorbed most of the impact. I tell you If I didn't wear a helmet I would be dead or at least a vegetable.

Simply put if you want a fine piece of equipment that preforms Buy this helmet.
