Bought the Giro Seam as my first ski helmet ever - always worn a hat. Helmet is extremely lightweight and doesn't even feel like it is on your head at most times because it is very comfortable. Having tried on other helmets and brands, I knew that many others (even including the Giro Nine 10) were still somewhat heavy on your head, and I feel that you would get fatigued from wearing all day on the slopes - the Seam is not that way at all and sits comfortably and lightweight on your head.

The In-Fit system works really great and really allows the helemet to be tailored to your head shape - the adjustment is quite simple and can be done in a matter of minutes, and for more help Giro has videos on their website on how to work the mechanisim. Helmet sits snug, but is not overbearing on your skull. The inner liner and ear pieces can be removed to be washed and cleaned, so you dont have to worry about it getting smelly from sweat over time. The venting system also works well, especially on days when it might be warmer on the slopes - you can just use the slide to open the vents on the top of the helmet to allow the hot air from your head to escape.

All in all, I think this is the perfect helmet for anyone, including a first time helmet wearer due to the comfort, adjustability, and the light weight nature of the product.

I bought this helmet last year and loved the style easy Sizing Adjustability and vent operation. Had an accident this year where this helmet took a metal fence post to soft spot at the base of my skull. The helmet broke but the In-Fit system did an incredible job absorbing the shock of an impact that likely would have killed or paralyzed me had i been wearing only my hat and googles
I bought a replacement Giro Seam the next day and am sold for life on the Giro Seam helmet

I've been wearing this helmet for the past three seasons and am impressed with its fit and features. The vents work well, adjusting for warmer/colder conditions. It is lightweight and has internal strap adjustments options that should allow for a comfortable fit for a variety of users. There is even a video on the Giro web site that demonstrates the proper way to adjust this helmet for your best fit. Goggles have no problem fitting over the top of this. Plus, it comes with a nice black drawstring bag that has the Giro logo on it in gray. The bag protects the helmet when it's not in use and keeps it from getting beat up to and from the slopes. Mine also came with a red Giro logo sticker that can be affixed to the helmet if you want to give Giro some free advertising, and it also came with an orange emergency contact sticker you can fill out and stick inside the helmet. Hopefully, you'll never need that, but it's nice to know it's there just in case. Finally, one of the style details you can't really see on this helmet given the angle of the product photo is a silver/chrome accent piece that sits centered in the front one inch above the lip. It's subtle, only about 2-1/4" wide x 1/4" tall, and it includes the Giro logo if you look closely. Again, it's very subtle - I like it.

I've uploaded photos here showing the bag, front silver plate detail, owner's manual and the two stickers I mentioned above. This is the best ski helmet I've owned, I'm glad I made this purchase and hope you'll be just as happy with yours if you decide to go with this model.

Bought this helmet before heading out to Lake Tahoe. It's comfortable, adjustable and I don't remember my head itching once. It was 50 degrees on the first day which was a great opportunity to use the vents on top. Opened them up and they were great. 30 the next day, closed the vents and all was well. I would strongly recommend this helmet.

I've been wearing mine for 2 seasons now and I really can't say enough good things about it, but here are some specifics that I particularly like:

* The adjustable fit holds my head in a way that feels "snug and secure, but not tight" and provides truly all day comfort, but without compromising safety (I've knocked mine around a few times).
* It is lightweight, but sturdy and durable.
* It is surprisingly warm, but breathable with adjustable vents so it never gets too hot. I wear a balaclava underneath on the very worst of days, but this is usually only 2-3 days per year.
* The visor lip at the top help shield the sun, drips from lifts, and other distractions from above.
* Visibility is fantastic, and the fit with a pair of Oakley Splice goggles is an absolute dream.

Do yourself a favor and check out this helmet if you are in the market.

Best fitting helmet for large head. The large size fits better then most other brands XL and after trying on 20 helmets this one was worth the extra price.

I don't normally review products I didn't purchase from Amazon, but this is an exception. This helmet is well designed, light weight, fits wonderfully, and is endlessly adjustable. You don't notice you're wearing it. .

I purchased this from my local boot fitter, who will not be named, but has a nice store in King of Prussia. I paid a bit more than the Amazon price, but the fitting was worth it. I have an unusually large and misshapen noggin, and this hat fit me perfectly after a couple of nudges and twists.

You need a helmet if you ski. Would you skimp on seat belts in a car accident? Would you skimp on a fire extinguisher if your deep fryer went kaflooie? Then don't skimp on your helmet. Michael Schumacher will attest to that, once he makes a complete recovery, deital mileage varying.

I'm pleased with this helmet. Aesthetically I wasn't sure I'd like the white/black combo rather than something like white/sliver but the matte which turned out to be slightly off white and black features go very well. I just skied two days and it was comfortable all day long and quite warm, the second day it was 11 degrees F.

The original info online and on the manufacturer's website said the helmet was ASTM 2040 certified which I was a bit concerned about since the better certification for snowsports is ASTM F-2040, but when it arrived I checked the inside of the helmet and it is in fact ASTM F-2040 certified which made me feel much better in terms of meeting a high safety standard. If I'm going to spend a lot on one piece of ski equipment, I want it to be the helmet.

I haven't tried the vents yet since it's been very cold but it looks like they will come in handy for spring skiing. I got a large which fits well with just a tiny bit of room which would pair well if I ever wore a balaclava. I was a little worried it might be too loose but if I go down a size the pressure from the helmet gives me a headache after about an hour and wouldn't feel comfortable for a full day of skiing. I adjusted it as tight as it will go and it's not moving around. I had to cinch the chin strap very tight which was bit hard to do, my only design suggestion would be to make the chin strap even more adjustable to make it go even more tight. The helmet is light but hopefully still very durable, I don't think it would meet ASTM standards if it weren't. I tried on some other ones that were heavier and could definitely see my head and neck getting fatigued later in the day. Ski equipment is plenty heavy, it's nice that this doesn't add much. Overall very nice and looks good.

Overall, my experience with this helmet has been nothing but positive. It fits my head comfortably and the ear muffs are soft.

Pros:
Head protection
Very soft ear muffs and cushion on the inside of the helmet (more so than other brands I've tried)
The vents prevent over heating
No problems fitting goggles (I use oakley airbrake) over these helmets

Cons:
With the ear muffs on, I do feel that my hearing is less acute. This is a good and bad thing. I find myself skiing downhill faster (which can be a pro and con) but at a risk of hurting myself more.

I finally hung up my old G10 Giro helmet after 7 seasons. I wanted to buy Giro again based on the G10 experience. I have a large head and finding helmets can be tricky. If you look closely at the Giro line of helmets, some helmets offer an XL size while others only offer L size. The Giro Seam is one which offers the XL size as well as the In-Fit system which with a dial in the back of the helmet which customizes the fit around the head. The in-molding is also a nice feature as it eliminates the need for the traditional inside foam (polystyrene or similar) and an exterior shell. It results in an extremely light helmet. The ear covers also allow for the Tune-ups headphones which are unfortunately not included with the helmet.
