This is a great quality helmet. However, purchasing the correct size online is difficult. I purchased the universal toddler small/med for my 3 1/2 yr old son and it was way too small. It fit my 1 1/2 yr old. We returned it and went to our local bike shop that sells this brand and tried the med/large size and it was still too small. We ended up purchasing a youth size helmet that fit perfectly. The prices were the same at our local bike shop. If you are know the correct size and like the convenience of purchasing online this is a great quality helmet.

I ordered two of these helmets..one for my 3yr old, another for my 6yr old. They are great, high quality helmets and they love the lights. But like many kids Giro helmets, the sizing is confusing. The child medium/large and toddler small/medium don't match the sizing on Giro's site. The child medium large fits my 3yr old boy very well and should last awhile. But its much too tight for my 6yr old. My 3yr old has a 20" head and the 6yr old has a 21" head. I don't believe there is a larger size of this helmet beyond the child medium/large which Giro calls "Youth Med/Large". I feel like they should have one more size range larger for this. So we'll have to visit the bike shop and look for something else we can try on.

You have to know something: if your child's helmet doesnt fit snugly, you're fooling yourself that it will actually do something when they crash/fall. I worked in a ski/bike shop for years and the number one problem I delt with was parents saying "you'll grow into it". This is the worst idea and situation you as a parent could do if you're seriously concerned about safety. This helmet is adjustable and will last a while for your daughter and keep her marginally more safe.

We recently had to order new helmets for my 8-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. They most recently were using the Giro Me2 Infant/Toddler helmet. I cannot say enough about how much I like Giro bike helmets for kids. I was thrilled with the Me2 helmet construction compared with all the others back when they were purchased. I read a lot of reviews and decided to go with the Rascal. I ordered the pink unicorns print for my daughter and the blue sharks for my son. I'm even more impressed with the construction of the Rascal.

The OneStep fit technology is awesome. The inside of the helmet looks so comfy and the way the straps are placed, provides optimum comfort. The style is attractive and the bug netting is a nice touch. To me, the proper fit is the biggest concern for me. My daughter is small so it took several tries to find a helmet that fit her perfectly (the Me2). I took a gamble and ordered the medium/large for them both due to reviews that it ran small and this size is perfect for my daughter and son.

The flashing LED lights for added safety makes it even better. Both of my kids make a point of turning them on when they are riding.

The only con to this product is that it is $40, however I think it is worth it.

This helmet fits my 7 year old son's head well and it looks cool. he likes it. It came with a flashing reflector but I didn't install that yet. Now I just need to get my kid past the neighborhood bike gang doping scandal.

Update 8/5/14

After less than one month of almost every day use, the stitching that holds part of the chin-buckle together broke loose when my son unfastened it hurriedly when we arrived at a playground. The plastic buckle half dropped to the ground, but I heard it and was able to pick it up. I put the plastic piece back on, threading the strap through it, but it didn't stay. On the return ride, my son wore the helmet without the buckle. Sure, I could get some dental floss and hand-sew the strap together, if I could remember how/where the stitching originally went, but I am returning the item, instead.

The other problem was that after frequent use, my son began to complain the helmet hurt his head just behind the crown. I applied a couple of the stick-on pads that shipped with the helmet, after cutting them to fit, but my son reported that only helped a little. Because the Lance Armstrong Livestrong helmet is a couple of years old, predating the final scandal that resulted in Armstrong's resignation from that organization, the sticky stuff on the extra pads included with the helmet are no longer very sticky.

My son and I drove 45 minutes to the nearest bike shop, and I bought him a Bontrager Solstice Youth helmet that matches his new sneakers. He had a chance to try it on and likes it. Appears a better constructed helmet than the Giro.

Purchased to replace a Giro Rodeo children's bike helmet that became delaminated after a couple of years use and abuse. My son is in the 97th percentile for height for a six year-old, and although other reviewers report the helmet in Medium/Large is sized too small children of six or seven years, this helmet fit him well without requiring adjustment.

I'm confident with my son wearing this helmet that he's protected. It fits really well and it's easy to put on and take off. My only complaint is that it's not adjustable as he grows like some other helmets.
