We needed a second helmet for the second child, and I chose the Spree after researching a bunch of helmets. After we tried it out, we loved it so much, I bought the slightly bigger version Rascal for our older son. These helmest are the best because:
(1) There's little to NO ADJUSTMENT NEEDED. The strap around the back of the head is a very thick, sturdy elastic and stretches to fit. The only place you adjust is at the chin, which, once adjusted, will not need adjusting until your child grows. This is WAY better than the Bell helmet we had before that needed adjustments at the back, under the years, at the chin, etc., and if you pulled too much on one side, you have to start all over to readjust for the other side...
(2) The Spree is the ONLY helmet I've found that fits my 18-month old's small-sized head. Because of the stretch, it also fits my 4 year old. I chose to buy him the next size up so he also has room to grow with his new helmet.
(3) The helmet wraps around the back of your child's head. Instead of a half dome, this is really almost 3/4 of a sphere.
(4) It comes with flashing LED lights on the back that you can turn on or off. I would never let my little kids out late at night, but it's nice to know it has that feature. This said, our LEDs stopped working within a day, and the batteries already need replacing. Don't know how long thes were sitting in a warehouse.
(5) It comes in a relatively simple blue flame design. I don't like obnoxious busy graphics, but it seems that's what manufacturers insist on putting on most bike helmets--especially the ones meant for boys. I also liked that there was a coordinating the red flame design in the Rascal for the older brother.

My daughter started wearing this helmet at 13 months. It fits her head wonderfully (she is in the 40% percentile for head size if this means anything to you parents out there), and there are many adjustable features on it so I know that we will be able to use it for multiple seasons. Unlike another helmet we tried, it does not flop down and cover her eyes. The pattern we got, red and white flowers, is adorable and so everyone who sees her in the bike seat can tell she is a girl! :-)

Bought this helmet for my 3 year old daughter as I wanted her to start learning to ride a bicycle. My daughter has a head size of 46cm so I figured this helmet will do just fine. Turns out the helmet won't fit her head. Giro specifications for measurements failed to detail the fact that the strap of the helmet runs from the top of the helmet to the size causing fitting problems near the ear. I used the giro sizing guide based on their site ([..]) and my daughters head fall in the category of this helmet. Lesson learned, bigger model ordered already.

We bought this helmet for my daughter when she was about 10 months old and she is now almost 3. It is pretty easy to adjust. The built in sun visor shape is great for keeping some sun off her face. We tried several helmets from other brands recently in hopes that she could move up to one of the larger hand-me-downs we have and leave this smaller one for her baby sister this summer. But the other 2 (a Nutcase and a Bell) never fit right no matter how many adjustments we made. Ultimately we decided to but a 2nd Giro helmet for the younger rather than mess with the others. The 3-year old loves the "lavender bunnies" print, although in person it is more pink color than lavender.

I bought this for my 6 month old and based on the head circumference listed, I thought it would fit but it's a teensy bit too big. I think it should fit him soon though, and he didn't mind me putting it on him and adjusting everything, so it seems promising. I would have appreciated a bit more instruction as far as adjustment - it comes with some adhesive foam pads to stick on the inside but it doesn't give any hints on where to put them. Like other Giro helmets, this has a kind of plastic net cage that goes around your head, so your head doesn't actually touch the styrofoamy part of the helmet in the back and sides. This made trying to figure out where to attach the foams a little difficult. Overall though it seems like a good helmet.

My 22 month old daughter absolutely loves this helmet. I recently bought a Topeak bike seat so we can go on bike rides and we bought a Strider Bicycle. Fits great, looks great, does the job!

Got them in April for my kids birthdays. Easy to fit and look very comfortable on the kids. Neither complain about wearing them, and grab them immediately when going for a ride. Cool designs for both girls and boys.
